Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden's daughter Raddix was born just 'before New Years'

They made a surprise announcement on Friday, January 3 that they had welcomed their first child, a daughter, named Raddix Madden. 

And now sources have revealed that Cameron Diaz, 47, and Benji Madden's, 40, bundle of joy actually arrived just before the New Year. 

The insider added that the pair were over the moon after wanting a child for some time.

'She was born right before New Years in Los Angeles,' they told People. 

'You can tell they are just the happiest. It's very emotional for them.'

Another People source recently shared that they had been waiting to be 'blessed' with a child for quite some time, after marrying in 2015.

The pair have not stated how they welcomed the child, but after Cameron showcased her slim physique in recent weeks (pictured November 22, 2019), it can be assumed Cameron and Benji either adopted or used a surrogate

'Cameron really wanted to be a mom. Cameron and Benji were hoping they would be blessed with a baby.' 

It news comes after the very private loved up pair revealed in a joint social media statement on Friday that they had welcomed a little girl.  

Happy New Year from the Maddens! We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden,' they began. 

'She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family ... While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD:)'

They ended the note with: 'From our family to all of yours, we’re sending our love and best wishes for a Happy New Year and Happy New Decade ... Sincerely, Cameron&Benj (sic).'   

The pair have not stated how they welcomed the child, but after showcasing her slim physique in recent weeks, it can be assumed Cameron and Benji either adopted or used a surrogate. 

In August last year, Cameron opened up about their marriage in a rare interview, calling Benji 'the greatest human being'.

She told InStyle magazine: 'I just want to build better, stronger friendships with the people who are in it with me. Of course, that includes my husband. Getting married to him was the best thing that ever happened to me.

'My husband's the best. He's the greatest human being, and he's my great partner. Marriage is certainly hard, and it's a lot of work. You need somebody who's willing to do the work with you, because there's no 60-40 in marriage. It's 50-50 period. All the time.'

The Bad Teacher star wasn't sure if she was 'ready' for marriage when they got hitched, but she always knew Benji was 'special'.

She added: 'I don't know if I was ready [when I got married], but I knew Benji was special. He's just a good man. There's no bulls**t. It's really refreshing. I'm grateful for him.'

The There's Something About Mary star - also known for her roles in The Mask, Charlie's Angels, and Shrek - stepped away from her A-list Hollywood career following the release of her film Annie six years ago and last year wrote a women's health guide called The Longevity Book.

She recently insisted she's in no rush to return the spotlight.
