A three-year-old girl is in a critical condition after being hit by a truck south of Brisbane.
Police said the child was being pushed in a stroller by a woman believed to be the mother, when they were struck at an intersection in Browns Plains.
The child has been rushed to the Queensland Children's Hospital with serious head injuries, and remains critical.
The woman was uninjured.
Acting Senior Sergeant Phillip Hughes has called the crash a tragic accident.
"A lady pushing a pram with a toddler in it, has entered into the intersection at Webber Drive and the truck has struck the stroller," he said.
Police said the driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, was assisting police with their inquiries.
"The truck driver immediately stopped his vehicle and he rendered first aid," Senior Sergeant Phillip Hughes said.
He said a nursing student witnessed the incident and also provided first aid.
Senior Sergeant Hughes said police did not know if the driver had right of way and there were no traffic cameras at the intersection.
"It's still unclear, because no one's definitively said whether there was a green light or red light for the truck," he said.
Police are appealing for anyone with relevant footage to come forward.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and anyone with relevant footage is urged to come forward.
