The Chicago Cubs Southern California Scout Team attracts the most talented players in Southern California, due to the alliance with it’s MLB organization the Chicago Cubs, and the premier baseball coaches who are among the best and most experienced in the nation.
The Southern California Cubs are one-of the few scout teams recognized by their MLB organization – The Southern California Scout Team has the backing of the Chicago Cubs. The link between the Cubs organization and it’s Southern California Scout Ball team is unique; the organization looks to the scout team to continually embrace young players and hone their skills. The select group of players are allowed to try out only by way of their high school coach, college coach, or pro scout.

The objective of our team is to have all rostered players sign letters of intent, or be chosen through MLB First Year Player Draft.
About the
Scout Team
The Southern California Cubs are led by General Manager, Don Moriarity. Coach Moriarity has the full support of the Chicago Cubs that began with former GM Jim Hendry. The support continued with Theo Epstein and President of Baseball Ops, Jed Hoyer. Coach Moriarity’s support from the organization is broad, and includes the entire Cubs scouting department.
The purpose of this team is to provide deserving high school players with the opportunity to develop and showcase their skills in front of college coaches and professional scouts. It also serves to prepare these players for the collegiate and/or professional levels of baseball, and to develop the many intangibles needed to succeed in the game of baseball.
The teams are comprised of the very best talent across our nation and Canada. We are looking for players who have character, ability, strong work ethic, serious about their development, and aspire to play the game at higher levels.
About the
Malibu Marlins
Summer League
The Malibu Marlins collegiate team is back in action for the 2023 summer season and will be playing in the Golden Coast Collegiate League. The league is split into 2 divisions of 6 teams each, with an All-Star game, and playoffs to round out a June and July season. We’ll also practice throughout the season at UCLA for player development. The roster is nearly full so best register ASAP. Home games will be played (subject to change based on availability) at Cal Lutheran University and other possible locations.

Japan Scout Team
Join the Chicago Cubs Scout Team as we fly to Japan to take on college and corporate teams for a one week baseball experience you’ll treasure for the rest of your life! The experience is unbelievable as we go to Japan and play highly competitive baseball. We’ll also visit the famous High School Baseball Tournament and join a sold out stadium of passionate Japanese baseball fans that root their clubs on from the first pitch until the last out. We’ll also tour the beautiful city of Kyoto! There is a cost involved that covers all travel, food and lodging from LAX and back again!
