Cheyenne Jackson (born July 12, 1975) is an American actor and singer-songwriter. He portrays Hades, Mal's father, in the movie Descendants 3.

Early Life[]

Cheyenne Jackson was born in Spokane, Washington to David and Sherri Jackson as their third child. He received his named Cheyenne based on the 1950s show, Cheyenne. He grew up in a small town in Oldtown, Idaho where he was raised throughout most of his childhood. His father was a Native American and a Vietnam veteran. His mother taught him and his three siblings how to sing. He continued to live in a rural house with an outhouse and no running water until he moved to Spokane as a teenager.

He began his theatre experience in Seattle as a side job while he would work as an Ad manager for a magazine. He would eventually earn his Equity card from his growing theatre experience. He wanted to work in Broadway the moment he heard about it but had plans to work his way to it. It all changed, however, when the September 11 attacks happened which motivated him to move to New York quickly and pursue his dreams of becoming an actor.

Personal Life[]

Jackson has been vocal for LGBT+ rights and his homosexuality. He had dated physicist Monte Lalpton in 2000 and they got married on September 3, 2011, in New York City. They announced their plans to divorce in July 2013 and officially divorced in September 2013.

In October 2013, he announced being in a relationship with actor Jason Landau. They announced their engagement in February 2014 and got married in Ensino, California in September 2014. The couple welcomed fraternal twins to the world, a son and a daughter, in September 2014.

He suffered from alcoholism in the past and he has been sober since 2013.

Jackson started his career in regional theatres. He played as Tony in West Side Story, as Joey, in The Most Happy Fella, as Cain, in Children of Eden, as Berger in Hair, as Billy Bigelow in Carousel, as Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees, as Rocky in The Rocky Horror Show, and as The Poet in Kismet, among many other productions.

His first Broadway debut was being an understudy for both of the male leads in the musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie.

In 2015, Jackson portrayed fashion designer and later owner of the fictional Hotel Cortez Will Drake where he starred alongside Lady Gaga whose carry Jackson's would later marry in American Horror Story's fifth season "Hotel", in 2016 he played Sidney Aaron James in the sixth season titled "Roanoke", a year later he would then play Rudy Vincent in "Cult" and returned in the eighth instalment "Apocalypse" as John Henry Moore
