This was not a tour. A man was in the front room and basically said to walk around the house. I had to ask him several questions and he was knowledgeable when asked. I was disappointed as you only saw the first floor and nothing is being done to restore it to its original design. It’s like they just left it as they received it in a 1975. The plaques were interesting to read and the short movie was very informative. I’m sure it was a beautiful home in its hay day.

Gorgeous view! Very interesting. Short interesting movie. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time here because of traveling. Would like to go back when we have more time. The ginkgo tree was gorgeous and huge. Handicapped parking on side near house with a handicap entrance. Very small gift shop. Nice attendant. Easy to get to and free parking. Can spend as little or as much time as you like. Gorgeous grounds to sit and enjoy. Would probably take about an hour to read everything.

I visited Chatham Manor in June 2021. The ranger at the Battle of Fredericksburg Gift and Book Shop gave me driving directions. Chatham Manor is closed due to COVID19. I walked around and took some photos. It is still worth seeing.

The house was closed to visitors, but the grounds are open and the staff are set up under a shade tree to orientate you and to answer questions. The grounds were lovely and view across the river was pleasant. We have been inside before, and there is not a lot to see there anyway, so don't hesitate to visit now.

Amazing views. Beautiful grounds. Wish the house were open at the time. Didn’t know it was closed until we arrived and even then the signage only said “open certain days” without specifying which days. But the grounds are open every day from sunrise to sunset.

The main building is closed but having been on the trolley tour earlier in the day, we understood the significance of the property. We could freely walk around the grounds and found the most delightful garden in full bloom. Worth checking out even if you can't get in the building. The sites and views were impressive.

The grounds were open but the manor house itself was closed the day we visited. The gardens were pretty and the view of old Fredricksburg across the river was quite nice.

We would like to go back at some point and see the house when tours are again permitted.

The mansion was closed because of COVID but the grounds were open and beautiful. We ate a picnic lunch on the steps overlooking the Rappahannock River and downtown Fredericksburg. The gardens were very attractive and the house most impressive. Picnic tables were available, but not where one can enjoy the river views.

The house has quite the history. We watched a short film. We unfortunately got there near closing time and didn't get the see the whole house, but we did get to see all of the grounds..I bet this place was something in it's heyday!.They have a gift shop but didn't go.

Spent just over an hour and really enjoyed this historical significance of this Georgian-style plantation estate. Great introductory video which shares information about the Antebellum through Post-Civil War occupants of the mansion and the lifestyles of those periods in American history. Helpful and knowledgeable docents. Several interesting displays on the history of the home and its owners, with artifacts. Free entry. Beautiful gardens to walk around. Easy parking. Very close to downtown Fredericksburg. Definitely recommend stopping and exploring this amazing mansion. No specific guided tours, so can spend as much time there as needed.
