We were excited to try a new restaurant in downtown Omaha and M's Pub has good reviews. Sadly, our experience was pretty wretched. For starters, the Caesar salad was okay and the banh mi was decent though far from authentic. The real problem was the...entree, a $51 ribeye. The first plate was a disaster: tough, with lots of gristle and fat.. Any real chef would never have sent such a mess to a customer. When this was tactfully pointed out to the server, she kindly offered to replace it and the manager came by and apologized, which was nice. But though the second version was more successful, it still was nowhere near what an expensive cut of meat should be, especially in a state famous for its beef!. Also, someone thought it would be a good idea to whip a lot of Romano cheese into the mashed potatoes: in fact this was a very bad idea, making the already gummy potatoes a turgid mess. Service was good, though the restaurant did seem understaffed. We always like to try new places, but in this instance, once was more than enough.More
