Charles Edward Murphy, 79, of New Castle passed away at UPMC-Jameson early Monday, September 14, 2020.
Charles was born June 6, 1941, in New Castle to Richard and Ernestine Murphy.
He was a member of the Army Reserve National Guard where he served as an automotive repairman and mechanic. He also qualified as a sharpshooter.
He married Lucille Johnson in 2008.
In his relaxing moments, Charles enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, hunting and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Murphy.
Charles will be sadly missed by his wife, Lucille; three daughters, Sherell Shepherd, Carmen Boyd and Charlene Ashly; stepdaughter, Tracy Johnson; two sisters, Delores Bell and Barbara Murphy; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Charles Murphy will be announced at a later date.
Services are entrusted to Charlotte A. Sheffield Funeral Home, Inc., 454 Chestnut Street, New Castle, Pa.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
