A wonderful and special place. This restaurant receives a lot of high ratings, which certainly seems appropriate, however, this is because of the special attention to detail both in the food and the service. You can certainly find a much less expensive meal in Mexico...City, but it is worth visiting. We actually dined here two nights. On the first night we had the 10 course 'taco' menu and the second we had the traditional menu in the dining room. Both experiences were terrific, but I will say that the 10 course taco meal was by far the better option (it isn't 10 courses of tacos, in case you were wondering). You are seated in a 12 seat row at the bar. The service is among the the best I have ever experienced and the food was outstanding. In addition, they serve drinks with nearly every course (alcoholic or not), which are all included in the price (meaning the taco experience is actually more expensive than the traditional one). Obviously, some people may have a difficult experience depending on who they are seated with, but we had an absolutely wonderful time and the staff are so helpful, explained everything and the food was far more than any one person should eat! The traditional menu is also very good, with around 7 courses. There are not many of the same menu items, but there is some similarities between the meals. This experience is far more like dining at a traditional restaurant and while it was wonderful, the taco experience was far more enjoyable.More

A tiny "sope" was our first stop in our culinary expedition, as part of Street Snack in the tasting menu, and you knew right away that we were in good talented hands. What an explosion of flavors in that little thing. That small sope, know...as an ordinary street food, was probably one of my favorite things in the menu and Karim, our attentive and knowledgable serve, was generous enough to bring us another one. Pujol is not for everyone. Some people dislike tasting menus for example. Others might think it is too expensive for what you get. Imagine those people on a cruise at the buffet, with their plate topped with food; no, this for sure would not be their kind of place. There are others, influencers or food snobs, who may think that Mexican food is overrated; tacos, tostadas, enchiladas and chalupas are basically the same thing, so no, this is not the place for them either. If you are hungry for an experience, and humble enough to allow yourself to see the proud vision of an artist, then Pujol is highly recommended and good luck, it might take you weeks to get a reservation, but for us it was worth it...we were there celebrating a very significant moment in our lives and we were fortunate to do it at the right place. Thank you Lalo for making our reservation possible.More

The food was amazing. everything that I had hoped it would be. The first eight courses at the bar were delightful. The bartender/host were excellent, describing everything in detail and generously pouring five delicious mezcals. We were wowed. We were moved to the lovely patio...for dessert. The dessert came with about a teaspoon of golden powder on it. I recognized the flavor, but couldn't quite put my finger on it. I asked a server what it was and he told me cinnamon - it clearly was not! I asked a different server and she told me dried corn that was toasted and then ground - yes, that was it! Then, my friend wanted a second cup of coffee. We were told that it would cost extra. Seriously, a meal that cost $175USD per person (I have never paid close to this in my life; this was an event that I had been saving for) and it costs extra for a second cup of coffee? I am glad these annoyances happened at the end of the meal, it might have spoiled an amazing experience.More

It pains me to write this, but unfortunately Pujol was not as good as we were expecting it to be. Given all the hype surrounding this restaurant, we were expecting to walk away completely delighted. The restaurant itself is beautiful and many of the dishes...were very nice. It just didn’t WOW us. We’ve had many other better meals in Mexico (one being at Arca in Tulum, which was unforgettable). We tried both the earth and sea tasting menus, and we were surprised by the lack of meat on the menu. The menus would be perfect for vegetarians but it didn’t leave us fully satisfied, especially given the price we paid. We also found the service to be very confused and quite chaotic. There were 3-4 different waiters assisting our table and we had to continually repeat the same thing to different people and answer the same questions. One waiter offering amazing service should be enough. Overall, it was nice, but not one of the best restaurants we have been to, let alone one of the best in the world. Others on the best restaurants list, such as Narisawa in Tokyo, are much more deserving of that label. I’m glad we tried it, but we won’t be going back.More

This shrine to Mexican cuisine both didn’t disappoint and did disappoint. Our party of 7 was seated at very large table for 14 in a semi private dining room, which while beautiful and serene, made conversation awkward given our 3-2-2 seating arrangement while the rest...of the table sat empty. Every single item in our preset menu was exquisite, bursting with flavor and a true celebration of Mexico. It is, however, important to manage expectations. For example, Pujol serves its mole as just the mole sauce, accompanied by gorgeous tortillas (no chicken or turkey). Also be prepared for a lengthy wait for cocktails. Those who ordered wine or champagne for their cocktail were poured right away; those who ordered a cocktail waited close to 20 minutes. The kitchen and sommelier were out of sync when we ordered our first bottle of white wine, a beautiful Chablis, which came when we were well into our first course. The second bottle of Chablis arrived when the second course, a gorgeous snapper, had been consumed by all except one, who wanted to enjoy her fish with a glass of wine. Based on the scurrying we saw between the server and sommelier, it was clear we had been forgotten. To make matters worse, the second bottle of the same label and vintage was inferior to the first. After some discussion with a manager, the second bottle of Chablis was removed and a bottle of Rioja appropriate for our next course was promptly served. It was delicious. I’m glad to have experienced Pujol but believe there are better options for gracious service and fine Mexican dining in CDMX.More

This is not just a meal... it is an experience. The waitstaff is so attentive and explains every course. There are 2 menus (Mar is seafood and Maiz is vegetarian). My fiance and I got one of each and shared, which was great. Some of...the highlights included the street snacks (still not sure what it was, but it was great), ceviche, octopus, and of course, mole. Beware, they do charge $8USD for water and since the bottle is not kept at the table, we didn't even realize that we drank $24 worth of water until the check came.. but oh well. For dessert, they brought us out on to the patio where we had sorbet, the desserts from the fixed menu, and the churros. All were delicious and enjoyed outside with lovely ambiance. This restaurant is a once in a lifetime experience and I would definitely recommend.More

What a disappointment after watching amazing reviews and show on Netflix.. You will not be entering a fine dining experience but rather a marketed factory food court. The food is good but there is no wow ..We had the tasting menu and not sure there...is an a la carte. The crew took even 10 minutes to even come and acknowledge that we were here and ready to be served at least some water as they are so many waiters just running. They talk to you in any language until 10.30 pm or so when they all disappear and the restaurant finally has a few waiters left and it is calm again... The well known Baby Corn with Chicatana ant coffee and chile costeno mayonaise is great and you are excited to see the rest of the menu which unfortunately fell flat for us at least. The sope served with it is ok. Then came the tostada de callo, kimchi, jitomates. The description, in French, from the Maitre D "smelled" amazing but the described taste was not there. Following was the Ceviche de lubina, jugo de cacahuazintle, yuzu and it was the best dish on the tasting menu. The color, the savor, the consistance of the ceviche was mesmerizing. Then the Rellano negro de berenjena, pinon, Xnipec was way to big as a portion and you only tasted the sauce. Then the Pulpo a las brasas, zanahoria, chintextle was ok Now come the so famous and aged mole...great (2550 days for us) Then Nicoatole de fresa, frambuesas, sake kazu ok To finish all off the churros which was amazing and freshly out of the oven. Overall not enough WOWS to really earn the spot on the 50 best restaurants of the world or certainly not the 5th position and we have been lucky to attend more than 30 of them Sorry it was a miss ! Only go if you want to say: I went to Pujol in Mexico city but not if you want a "voyage extraordinaire"More

An incredible experience of unbelievable food, drinks, and service in a stunning property. Mexico City is amazing because everything from street food to fine dining is delicious, but I'm so glad that we did not skip this experience. It was a magical night, and while...it is expensive, it felt well worth the price for the care the they take with everything that is served.More

Pujol was a fantastic culinary experience. There were 4 of us for an early evening seating and we left full and satisfied. We enjoyed the tasting menu - most of us chose maiz, and one chose the fish. A caution: many of the flavors are...very rich, but they are beautifully presented, great tasting, and allows you to experience some upscale but authentic Mexican cuisine. From crunchy tlayuda to plantain tamal to 2800 day old mole, I enjoyed every bit of it. This was also the first time I was able to try huitlacoche. While I'm not sure my feelings towards its earthy flavor, I know I had a great prepared introduction. To top it off, the room is very well appointed, a calm, upscale ambiance, and not too loud to have conversation with your full table. Courses were spaced out just right, and the service was quite attentive. Our main server also made a valiant effort to serve us and explain our courses in English, although this was not expected and not his first language.More

Disappointing and overrated ! The best was only the presentation but not the taste. Most of the food were either too salty or too sour, or even both too salty and too sour. Many on lower ranking number in the World Best list are much...better. Service also not on the level of other fine dining places we had visited, even the new comers still not listed in World Best. Response for requests very slow or just forgotten.More

After reading so much, and hearing so much from friends and acquaintances, we booked a table six months in advance for the tasting menu (choice of maize or seafood). My seafood tasting menu was amazing, but the maize selection my partner and my friend had...were not to their liking. The cocktails were good but not exceptional. The restaurant is located in a beautiful, mid century modern former house in a residential neighborhood. The service was impeccable. I would say it is very good but for the hype and price point one would expect better. My party´s take was that the maize menu should include some type of protein, especially given the price point. I saw a lot of online queries about whether this restaurant has Michelin stars. My take is that it is not there yet. If you stick with the seafood tasting menu, I personally think you will love it.More

This was our one night of fine dining in Mexico City while we were there for a bachlorette party. We made reservations well in advance and were seated in a really nice dining area. The food is not to be missed. Not only is the...taste spot on, so is the experience. Everyone's dietary restrictions were taken into consideration and individualised so the experience was a pleasure for everyone. The drinks here are also very good. Great food, great atmosphere and perfect service!More

We visited Pujol for the second time and had a nice dinner. The staff was friendly, however not initially super accommodating to our 7 year old daughter eating with us (yes, recognizing it's not exactly a kid friendly place!). Our previous visit was when she...was 5 and they allowed us to order a couple things off the tasting menu for her. This time, they encouraged us to have her eat off our plates. That said, it worked out fine and she had plenty to try! I think in the end it was the better choice. One man in particular made us feel really welcome and brought our daughter several special drinks and after the meal took us back to the kitchen to see what they do back there (my husband works in restaurants, so this was not their typical routine, but a really nice touch for us). The food was good, but I wouldn't call it the best meal of our lives. They do a really nice job, but it is expensive. I feel like we've had our Pujol experience and don't need to return for the food.More

When you are meant to be the best Mexican restaurant in the world the bar is set extremely high . The food is definitely different to your traditional Méxican fare . The food was good but to say it is the best would be a...stretch . Service was ok drinks take forever and the extremely sweet waitress kept apologizing for the incompetent bar tenders . Worth the visit but don’t set your hopes too high .More

We had the taco omakase menu and liked most of the courses (one was really not to my personal taste, but that's nothing against Pujol) as well as the beer selection. The staff was extremely friendly, but - and this is a big BUT -...Pujol is simply trying to squeeze in too many guests with not enough staff. Even without COVID, no one wants to go to a restaurant and pay $300+ to be seated in such a crowd that it feels like they're in a cattle yard. Not to mention the poor staff looked completely stressed out as they ran around trying to serve everyone, which makes the ambience feel totally stressful. Sometimes, making less money a night is worth it if you can offer your guests a more relaxed, blissful dining experience.More
