Actors Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum, who have been romantically linked since 2021, got engaged in October 2023.

The two both voiced roles in The Lego Batman Movie in 2017. During that time, they were in separate relationships. Tatum wed his Step Up costar, Jenna Dewan, in 2009, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Everly, in 2013 before finalizing their divorce in 2019. Kravitz, daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, married actor Karl Glusman in 2019, but the couple split 18 months later.

Romance rumors swirled when Kravitz ⁠— who plays Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman ⁠— cast the Magic Mike actor in her upcoming film, Blink Twice, in early summer 2021.

The pair were soon spotted on strolls in New York City, leaving the Met Gala together and sporting a couple's costume for Halloween.

In 2022, the couple began speaking about each other in interviews, and Tatum attended the New York City premiere of The Batman alongside Kravitz's stepfather Jason Momoa.

January 4, 2021: Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum spark dating rumors

Following Kravitz and Glusman's split in January 2021, the actress sparked dating rumors with Tatum. Although the couple had been working together on Blink Twice — which was then titled Pussy Island — a source confirmed to PEOPLE that they were not dating.

"They're working together on an upcoming project and it's not true that they're dating," the source said.

June 15, 2021: Zoë Kravitz opens up about casting Channing Tatum

During an interview with Deadline, Kravitz opened up about Tatum being her first choice to star in her directorial debut.

"[He was the one] I thought of when I wrote this character," she told the outlet in the summer. "I just knew from Magic Mike and his live shows, I got the sense he's a true feminist and I wanted to collaborate with someone who was clearly interested in exploring this subject matter."

There was instant chemistry between the two as they worked on the project and "things turned romantic fast," a source told Us Weekly at the time.

August 19, 2021: Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum are spotted publicly together for the first time

Kravitz and Tatum were seen riding through the streets of N.Y.C. on a BMX bike on Aug. 19, 2021. The actress draped her arms around Tatum's shoulders as she stood on the pegs of the back wheel while he peddled.

Just a few days later, the duo was spotted drinking large iced coffees while sharing a laugh, continuing to enjoy their time together in N.Y.C.

August 29, 2021: Channing Tatum follows Zöe Kravitz on Instagram

While neither Tatum nor Kravitz confirmed their relationship with an Instagram post, the Magic Mike actor did start following Kravitz. He proceeded to follow several fan accounts dedicated to the actress, as reported by Cosmopolitan.

September 1, 2021: Several sources confirm Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum's relationship

In September, sources told PEOPLE that the two "continue to be inseparable" during their time spent in N.Y.C.

"They spent the weekend in N.Y.C., strolled around the city, met up with friends and visited the Guggenheim Museum," a source said. "They looked very happy. They have this cute and flirty chemistry."

September 14, 2021: Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum leave the Met Gala together

Although Kravitz and Tatum walked the 2021 Met Gala carpet separately, they were spotted leaving the event together.

The actress, who donned a crystal Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello slip gown, and Tatum attended the exclusive Cincoro Tequila Met Gala afterparty hosted by Alicia Keys.

October 22, 2021: Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum show PDA for the first time

A month after attending the Met Gala afterparty, Kravitz and Tatum were seen holding hands on their way to get lunch in N.Y.C. Tatum also wrapped his arm around Kravitz's shoulder, while both were sporting chic looks to stay warm.

For Halloween in 2021, Tatum uploaded a cute picture of himself beside Kravitz as the two rocked a couple's costume from Martin Scorsese's classic 1976 film, Taxi Driver. A source told PEOPLE, "They are more relaxed lately. They don't seem to care about hiding their relationship anymore. It's obvious that they are very happy."

November 15, 2021: Zöe Kravitz gets to know Channing Tatum's daughter

A source told PEOPLE in November 2021 that Kravitz is getting to know Tatum's daughter Everly, whom he shares with ex-wife Dewan, saying it was a move that "only seems natural."

The source continued, "He is a very loving dad. He also acts very serious with Zoë."

February 2022: Channing Tatum talks about Zoë Kravitz in interviews

While he didn't give Kravitz a label other than "friend," Tatum spoke highly about Kravitz in two interviews published in February 2022.

While speaking to Variety about Kravitz's directorial debut Blink Twice, which stars Tatum, the actor noted that he advised Kravitz not to act in the film based on his experience as star and codirector of the 2022 film Dog. "I was like, 'You'll need double the days,'" Tatum explained. "She's a perfectionist in the best possible way."

Then, in an interview with his 21 Jump Street costar Jonah Hill for V Man magazine, Tatum credited his personal fashion style in part to Kravitz's influence. "Some friends of mine, like you and Zo [Zoë Kravitz] were like, 'Why don't you just wear what you wear? Why don't you just be you?'" he told Hill. "You gave me some very specific style tips."

February 14, 2022: Zoë Kravitz opens up about Channing Tatum in an interview

Though still not confirming her relationship with Tatum, Kravitz shared a glimpse of her feelings when asked about the actor during her March 2022 Elle cover story on Feb. 14, simply stating that she's "happy."

"Looking at his work and hearing him speak about Magic Mike and the live show, I'm like, I think he's a feminist," Kravitz said about casting him in Blink Twice. "You need to be so far from who this is, where it's not scary. And I don't think we've ever seen him play someone dark. I'm excited to see him do that."

February 28, 2022: Channing Tatum supports Zoë Kravitz at The Batman premiere

On Feb. 28, Jason Momoa, who recently split from Kravitz's mother Lisa Bonet, shared a photo alongside Tatum as the two prepared to board a flight to attend the premiere of Kravitz's latest film, The Batman.

"CHEEEEHUUUUUUUU. SO EXCITED @channingtatum and I are on our way to see our ZOZO," Momoa began the caption of his post. "Finally @thebatman premiere. The Aquaman star later chatted with PEOPLE (The TV Show!)'s Jeremy Parsons at the premiere on March 1, calling Tatum a "wonderful" person.

"Oh yeah," Momoa said when asked whether he approved of Kravitz's boyfriend. "He's wonderful ... she's a big girl."

March 2022: Channing Tatum is "proud" of Zoë Kravitz's Batman success

Following the opening weekend of The Batman, a source told PEOPLE that Tatum "has been telling friends how proud he is of Zoë," for her performance as Catwoman in the film, adding, "He is a huge fan of her acting."

Later that week, an insider told PEOPLE that the couple "seem very happy" and "still have this playful energy that they have had since they first started dating." Despite their busy schedules, the sources said that Kravitz and Tatum "continue to spend time together on both coasts" but were "uncomfortable with the attention" they received when they first started dating and have opted to be more "discreet."

Kravitz opened up about working with Tatum on her directorial debut for WSJ. Magazine's Fall 2022 Women's Fashion issue.

"When you make things with people it's a very sacred space, and when you're compatible with somebody creatively it often opens up other channels, because you're kind of sharing all of yourself," Kravitz said.

She added, "I'm really grateful that this movie has brought him into my life that way."

The actress-turned-director also explained why she cast Tatum in the thriller, saying she wanted "someone who hadn't played a dark character before because I think that's exciting to watch someone who's mostly played boy next door, good guy, love interest, all of that."

"I felt, even from afar, before I knew him, that he was a feminist and that he wasn't afraid of exploring that darkness, because he knows he's not that," she continued. "That's why I was drawn to him and wanted to meet with him. And I was right."

August 2022: Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz mark one year together with an Italian vacation

To celebrate their one-year anniversary, Tatum and Kravitz headed to Italy together, where they were photographed kissing on a yacht.

"They are very happy," a source told PEOPLE, adding, "Channing is serious about Zoë. It's not a casual relationship. They have been exclusive for a long time."

Tatum and Kravitz had a matching moment in September 2022. The couple were seen walking hand-in-hand down the streets of N.Y.C. in similar wide-leg brown pants; paired with black shirts and sunglasses.

Kravitz opened up about her relationship with Tatum in an interview for GQ. "He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do," she said. "We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other."

The Batman star also praised Tatum for acting as her guardian on the set of Blink Twice, which was still titled Pussy Island at the time. "Whether it was making me tea or pouring me a drink or going to whip someone into shape or whatever — he really was my protector and it was really wonderful and sweet," she explained.

October 30, 2023: Sources confirm that Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz are engaged

Several sources told PEOPLE that Tatum and Kravitz are headed for marriage. Photos of the couple leaving a Halloween party seemingly confirmed the engagement as Kravitz was spotted sporting a massive diamond ring.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the music legend commented on his daughter's engagement.

January 27, 2024: Zoë Kravitz shares new photo with Channing Tatum to celebrate movie Blink Twice

In a post on Instagram, Kravitz shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Blink Twice, including a Polaroid photo where she posed beside Tatum, sticking her tongue out, alongside pictures of her hanging out in front of a trailer and at work behind the camera.

In her caption, the debut director shared the film's release date as August 23, 2024.
