1989 Directed by Allan Eastman
This is the story of the Charles Heidsieck who opened the market for Champagne sales in America just prior to the American Civil War. He is a reluctant French spy and is captured and spends time in a Union prison. There are two parallel love stories (he is French) and some battles with his uncle for control of the family vineyard (because his father married his mother who the uncle also loved).

The biggest mood in this whole movie was Hugh Grant’s character saying ‘three weeks detention, another letter to my Ma but I’m stilllll here. See you later.’
Also the most shocking thing wasn’t Hugh Grant’s mustache. It was in fact when he had a full beard and LOTS of hair.
Bonus: Hugh Grant doing a 180 and wacking someone in the face.
one of the most unbearable cinematic experiences I’ve ever witnessed like it has maybe 5 “funny” moments, it’s way too long with nothing going on, and meaninglessly says its own stupid title more than TENET bad bad fucking BAD
There's something comforting??(GOD NO) about the pacing of a miniseries. this one had me in the first fifth then lost me. Hugh Grant committed though; gotta love that

The fun parts of this dreadful miniseries are as follows:
- a child yelling “YES!” in the first few minutes
- Hugh’s awful French accent and moustache
- but Hugh’s curly hair can stay
- The Room-esque sex scenes
- waxing poetic about the bubbles
- kissing in the champagne catacombs
- basically a French guy being like “your country is beautiful? I do not undarSTAND the civil WAR” but the Civil War stuff sucks
- oh he has a THEME SONG. the character has his own THEME SONG
Contrary to how this review seems? Awful, do not watch.
an entire bottle of champagne and the hottest hugh grant i've ever seen couldn't save this one kids
Average made for tv historical picture. Hugh Grant looks good enough to pop some corks.
