Peter Sellers was a peerless mimic and satirist and I have heard no finer satire than that on this record. His colonial officer (Africa Today), Lord Badminton, the party political candidate and his Major Bloodnok in The Goons have made me wonder whether he actually had a soft spot for these social dinosaurs. This is a set to treasure and share with kindred spirits. The transfers are excellent and the set comes with an absorbing booklet.

This CD Box is a must for every Peter Sellers' fan. It Contains 4 CDs and a marvellous booklet with some rare pictures. Some of the CD tracks are absolutely unfindble, even in Internet.

This 4 disc CD set has EVERYTHING Peter Sellers did on record.....well mostly. My only complaint is the omission of his version of "She Loves You" done in the style of 'Dr. Strangelove'. WHY would they leave that off when EVERYTHING ELSE is there??? Then again, we DO get 3 'other' versions of 'She Loves You', so it sort of makes up for it.
GREAT photos [one of the best is with Sophia, Peter and producer George Martin!] and original EMI/Parlophone sleeve art.
Peter Sellers, like it or not, was most-likely the funniest, versatile & hippest comedian ever! Like he said of himself as Harold Fine [in the film 'I LOVE YOU, ALICE B. TOKLAS'-1968]; "Listen -- I'm probably the HIPPEST guy around here!!"
In 1980 we lost two great entertainers; Peter Sellers & John Lennon.
Newcomers to Sellers might want to think before they buy - the absolute must-haves are tracks 1-8 on disc 1 (the original contents of the 10" LP "The Best Of Sellers"). Disc 2 has nothing special on it, things perk up with disc 3, featuring Italian sex bomb Sophia Loren, who, having been in the film "The Millionairess" with Sellers, apparently had no qualms about warbling in English and even essaying a comedy cor blimey accent on occasion. She's a game girl! Although not as game as Sellers would have liked - he lusted after SL but was repulsed! Also on disc 3 is the great rendition of "A Hard Day's Night", with Sellers doing Laurence Olivier doing Richard III. Not to be missed!
As a replacement for my original 'Songs for Singing Sellers' LP it's very welcome. There are some other excellent tracks, but it's not the sort of collection that I want to listen to all through. Nevertheless, a welcome source of some of Peter Sellers' most memorable work.
I had this set- most of it- on cassette, back in the day, but they got lost in many moves. I'm so pleased to have discovered this set- it's a fabulous record of Peter Seller's versatility and brilliance. Well worth a listen.
