What travellers are saying
- A M1 contributionI took out-of-town guests to Lake Chabot. We had a blast rotating duties on a paddle boat. Boat rentals of all types are 1/2 price on weekdays. My friends were charmed by having lunch under the oaks at the Marina Café, then we when for a walk on one of the perimeter trails. A lovely day and easy entertaining.Written 30 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Leila CFremont, CA65 contributionsJust a short trip up Palomares Road from Niles Canyon in Fremont, and you are out in the beautiful countryside, with mostly trees, hills, wildlife, a few houses scattered here and there....and a few wineries. We visited Chouinard on a Sunday afternoon. They have well-landscaped grounds, nestled into the hillside. The tasting room is not too big or too small, and there are some seats you can sit on, if you get tired of standing at the bar while tasting a series of wines. It is $10 for around 6 tastings, but the fee is waived if you buy a bottle, and the bottle prices are in the low $20's, so we ended up buying some bottles, since we all found wine we enjoyed during the tasting. There is a backyard area with tables where you can bring your own picnic...lots of shady areas to sit under trees or trellises. Maybe we will return sometime to enjoy music, food (bring your own), and wine during one of their upcoming concerts. I really enjoyed this "remote but not far away" winery tucked into the Fremont/Niles countryside.Written 14 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - miniFremont, CA1,99,284 contributionsWe went wine tasting at TwiningVine Winery in Castro Valley. This is a nice secluded winery. There are nice grape fields as well as the large red barn which is where the tasting room is We enjoyed learning about their wines. It was a delightful wine tasting.Written 15 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
