About
The Carrousel du Louvre, located right in the heart of Paris, in the first arrondissement of the City of Lights, is, without doubt, a premier shopping destination. It is open all year long, 7 days a week (including Sundays) from 10am to 8 pm, and is home to a variety of restaurants and more than 40 premium stores including Apple Store (the first Apple Store in Paris) and Printemps du Louvre (showcasing leading luxury brands with top-of-the-range watchmaking on the mezzanine floor). The Carrousel du Louvre is a uniquely designed iconic venue, with its famous Inverted Pyramid, a fantastic architectural feat by Pei (where fans can explore the mysteries of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code or take the perfect selfie to keep as a special Paris memento), its Charles V Hall walls, its Comédie Française studio theatre and its conference and exhibition centre. Culture runs deep in its DNA making it a cultural site to be visited on its own account! The Carrousel du Louvre can be accessed from the Louvre Museum (at the end of your visit when you leave through Allée du Grand Louvre), 99 Rue de Rivoli, the Tuileries Garden (North and South stairways) and also by direct access to the Palais Royal Musée du Louvre metro station (lines 1 and 7).

the ladurre employee was very rude to us. we are in line and he told us to move on to some other customers (cute girl). I was very unhappy with the situation. I called him to attention and even then, in a rude way, he told us to wait for what we wanted.

I don't own any luxury handbags but was contemplating whether to buy one while in Paris given its so much cheaper here but any time I went into a store, the staff made me feel extremely intimidated and uncomfortable. I visited Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Fendi and Dior but hadn't felt comfortable enough to even look at a handbag, let alone consider buying one!!

Despite my apprehension I strolled into Printemps at the Carrousel du Louvre and had a look at the YSL handbags. The staff at Saint Laurent here are completely different to everywhere else! A lovely Japanese lady named Yumi showed me a number of handbags and let me try them all to see which one I liked. I told her I'd think about it which she totally understood as she said it's a big investment so of course it's better to think about it!

I decided to check Saint Laurent stores at La Fayette and the flagship store near Champs élysées in case there were other styles I hadn't seen but the staff at those stores were just as rude and pushy as the other luxury stores I'd been to!! Not wanting to give them my business, I went back to Saint Laurent in Printemps, Carrousel du Louvre. Yumi didn't hesitate and insisted I try on the bags again to make sure I was happy with my choice. I was so pleased with her service I ended up buying a handbag and wallet for myself, and another hand bag for my sister in law!! Great customer service still goes a long way!!

Yumi and the rest of the staff here are so much more understanding and attentive than the staff at other luxury stores around the city. If you're after anything from Saint Laurent I highly recommend you come here first!!!

Carrousel du Louvre is an underground shopping mall with brand name retail shops, restaurants and direct access to the Musee du Louvre.

It is connected to the Palais Royal Metro station and provides the quickest access to the museum for those who wish to avoid the long queues which form outside the Pyramid du Louvre (main entrance). It is also the location where you see La Pyramide Inversée, the inverted pyramid, which is well worth having a look at.

Overall, we have never spent much time browsing in Carrousel du Louvre for shopping purposes but have found this to be a very good access route for entering the museum.

You can enter off the street by the Louvre or actually go down into the Pyramid (free!) and through the Louvre shops into this small high end mall. The food court is like a smorgasbord of international cuisine. The McDonalds is tucked away but even has designer furniture, a couple of coffee outlets, and half a dozen excellent kitchens showing great food all day. Expect to pay €10 for a proper meal and €1 to use the toilet!

Just to advise tired museum visitors looking for a coffee or snack when exiting the Carrousel to AVOID the Rivoli Caffé.

Saw a couple of things that bothered us: 1. Windexing of the glass with all the open food displayed; 2. Behind the pretty display is bleak, stark seating; and 3. Two of the young women employees giving some really serious grief to a female tourist who wanted to use the toilettes. They thought she wasn't a customer but in fact her male friend/husband was in the process of deciding at the case. Nonetheless, the Asian girl was quite abusive & wouldn't let up when the woman argued back that her companion was at the front.

There are too many other welcoming places in Paris to spend our good American money!

This is an underground, very upscale mall beneath the Louvre Museum. The entrance stairway is in the plaza behind the horse statues and the arch. There is an entrance to the Louvre down there in case you don't want to stand outside in the rain! However, both lines were so long when we went that we skipped it. There is an Apple Store in this mall which was helpful, as we were having troubles with our IPod and they cleared that up for us. A lot of people don't even know this place is there, so you will be IN THE KNOW if you go there!
There is a food court and a nice bathroom at the food court-both are very busy, especially on a rainy day!

Carrousel du Louvre is a shopping complex situated under Musee du Louvre. There is direct access to the museum as well as the shop - Civette du Carrousel where you can purchase the useful Paris Museum Pass before clearing security and entering the museum grounds. Shop opening hours are 8.45am to 7pm (Closed on Tuesdays).

The Paris Museum Pass is a convenient multi-day pass providing access to over 50 monuments and museums around the city. The costs are now (2 days - €48), (4 days - €62) and (6 days - €74). Pass benefits include being able to bypass the ticket purchasing queues at the various attractions as well as potentially saving on your total attraction entries.

Note: Before purchasing, you should go ahead and do your own computations to determine how much you are going to have to spend on the normal entry prices for the places you intend to visit. In short, the more attractions that you plan to visit which are covered with the Pass, the more likely it will work to your benefit and save you some money.

We first stumbled upon Carrousel du Louvre when we were trying to find The Apple store on a computer map and it was only after walking down Rue de Rivoli twice that we suddenly discovered the entrance down below the Louvre buildings. The entrance is virtually opposite the Palais Royal and it takes you into a world of shops, cafes and restaurants and the booking area for The Louvre itself. It became even more fascinating when we realised we were situated under the central courtyard of the Museum and, in fact, under the Glass Pyramid that extends down into the Carrousel. We regularly visit here, usually starting with Apple for European connectors and other items, but we then always find interesting things in the other shops and end up eating here. Recommended.

STAY AWAY!
Do yourself a favor do not expect them to honor your reservation! We got there after 12 like our reservation stated going there with 2 small kids and bags and they said we had to be there at exactly 12 and our car was given away. It was a well-orchestrated scam to push upon us a car which costed 3 times more money! They lied about no cars being available there at all in near future and that summer is very busy and we will not get a car from anywhere. Us being extremely tiered with bags and small kids they basically scammed out of money! When same night we got to our hotel and went checked online same place had cars available at 8am next morning…. There are 3 companies Thrifty, Hertz and Dollar in same location. I had a confirmation number and reservation which they didn’t honor it was a nightmare after flying in thinking you have a car being scammed like this. You better of renting car at airport not from this place. Never in my life had I heard so many lies and never our confirmed reservation were rejected. Stay away from this place they will because you stress, and will abuse you.

Don't waist your time at the main entrance, near the main pyramid (outside) :
The Carrousel is your fastest way to get inside the Louvre (enter rue de Rivoli,99) + you will see the "upside-down" pyramid ! :)
I like this one because you can be very close to it, even touch it if you like...
The Macdonald in the Carroussel might not be fancy enough for *some people*, but at least you can have an affordable meal ... I go there every time : you will need energy to visit the Louvre ! ;)
