The performances ARE very good NOW, in fact part of its charm is that it was recorded in 1956 . The choral singing is inspirational I love the harmonies and how the voices meld. No auto tune back then. So I’ve no idea why anyone would say that this LP was very good back in 1957 and only good now, considering how horrible 99% of modern Christmas recordings are . This is a timeless gem and the performances are STILL ‘VERY GOOD’

This isn't "folk", nor is it"world"music or "country".
The Genre is "Christmas Music", and the Style is "Pop Choral."

I wouldn't characterize the music or the style of performance as folk or country, though some of the traditional carols date back to early times and are anonymous, while others are modern commercial non-religious Christmas music. The Pennsylvanians sing mostly a cappella in this recording in a conventional classical style, in four-part harmony. The performances are reasonably good, and probably would have been considered very good in 1957.
