Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum is on the edge of town and it was established in 1966 by Australia and the United States to track The Gemini and Apollo space missions with large satellite dishes. The exhibits inside the museum are very interesting and there is a small theatre that shows films related to the space missions.

We had a lovely afternoon at the blowholes, an hours or so's drive from Carnarvon. The setting is incredible with the weaves crashing off the cliffs and of course spouting with sheer force up through the blowholes.
You can get reasonably close too as long as you stay safe and you can see the blowhole clearly. When the waves come in, the force and the display id quite magnificent.
The view up the coast to the wave cut platforms and cliffs are quite astonishing. I was in Australia for a month and I'd put these blowholes right up there amongst my favourite things to have visited.
    An absolute must see, honestly!

Didnt really know what to expect going to the Kennedy Ranges and was concerned that there may not even be room for us being a Dept of Parks & Wildlife that you couldnt make a booking.OMG I loved it.What could beat being in the middle of no where with this gorgeous range as the backdrop.Pete the caretaker was excellent and met us on arrival and helped to choose a spot.We had a 180 degree view of the ranges and enjoyed all the colours throughout the day.Drop toilets around the camp and a communal fire every night where you got to meet everyone else in the camp(Fabulous). So many walks and Gorges to see and all different. You need to be self sufficient with water and food as there is nothing around for miles and Gascoyne Junction is a joke(sorry).Pete would even cook things on the fire for you and light one just for your food to cook.Best Caretaker.Give yourself at least 2 full days to do ALL the gorge walks. The ridge walk gives magnificent views across the countryside and its not terribly difficult as we did it walking from the camp

We went down to the fascine a couple of times during our stay in Carnarvon, the nicest part of thew town by far. There are a few nice pubs to sit in and watch the sunset.
The fascine itself is well kept and the views of the water are nice, but Carnarvon is edgy town so keep your wits about you. The fascine is not edgy to be fair, but you are not too far from the main street which we found a little rough.

I have been to a number of indigenous cultural centres around Western Australia, so I was keen to visit Gwoonwardu Mia. The centre is located on your way into town, on Robinson Road, just before the Babbage Island Road turnoff. You can't miss the large building encased by carved steel panels. The entrance however is a little more difficult to locate. The main visitor's car park is to the left of the building, but the entrance is actually tucked around to the right. The centre is open to the public from 9:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday (closed Saturday and Sunday).

The entrance is just past the cafe, in the gallery shop. to get through to the interpretive centre you go through the gallery shop out the doors to the ethnobotanical gardens, representing the five local language groups, and then to a smaller side door. The interpretive centre, Burlganyja Wanggaya, is worth the admission fee ($10/adult & $5/children), with impressive interactive displays, such as the Sky Dome, which showcases a timelapse video of a starry sky, with commentary about the ancient art of stargazing for the Aboriginal community, and the exhibit on the incredible giant, burrowing bees. I thoroughly recommend you spend the time listening and watching each of the stories (both good and bad) about the history of Gascoyne Aboriginal peoples - it was captivating.

The gallery shop and the cafe however really don't do the centre justice. They were poorly laid out and weren't that inviting. The staff were almost non-existent and not that helpful at all. Which is a shame as both the gallery and shop have the potential to be an asset to the centre rather than an afterthought.

Easy access from town, easy to spot from the highway! Look for the big dish! A cute little museum with some interactive games for all ages, my 65 year old husband tried several times to land the space craft and he really enjoyed the whole experience. He was one of those kids so excited about the first man landing on the moon, this museum was right up his alley. The movie The Dish told those of us who didn't know that Australia had an important part in that mission. We spent about an hour at the museum, happily looking at exhibits, talking to the curators and buying great t-shirts.

I just finished walking on the bridge. The bridge is not well kept. Although none of the wood pieces fell apart, some of them look like they weee about to. Please be careful where you step on. Overall, the town should redo the bridge and repaint te railing so it looks more attractive.

Delicious pies. The Moroccan goat pie was a special spicy treat, with a complex flavour profile, complete with apricot and date. Beautiful.

This local growers' market is held every Saturday from 8:30am - 11:30am on the grounds of the Carnarvon Civic Centre. There was a variety of stallholders, on the Robinson Street frontage, selling a range of local crafts. Then if you walk down the passage between the two buildings to the parking area at the rear, you'll find more stalls. There is a decent selection of fresh fruit and vegetables (depending on the season) and a few food vans, with freshly roasted coffee, Dutch poffertjies, goat pies, burgers, jams, pickles and preserves.

Friday night at the Carnarvon Yacht Club was splendid. Stunning location with plenty of tables and chairs. A superb Chilli Con Carne with all the trimmings cooked by volunteer chefs Karl and Carmie. Different dishes and BBQ also offered on other Friday nights. Twenty dollars each including a glass of decent vino.
    Bargain!

Bush Bay was a bit of a surprise visit.Hadnt planned on staying there but trying to prolong our return to Perth.Went to Bush Bay rather than New Beach.Turn to your right when you hit the T junction.Plenty of room for vans etc and you can choose to be on the beach or just a bit further back. They have quite big tides so be careful where you park.It is primarily Mangroves but we had NO issue with midgies or mosquitoes. Not really a swimming beach as it is so shallow but its clean and seaweed free.No drop toilets so you need to be self contained.Generators and fires are allowed and so are pets.$8 per person per night and there is an honesty box as you drive in from the highway.Pensioners are only $6 a night.Saw lots of boats and apparently they were catching fish but they had to go way our to sea.Nice camp spot and much better than New Beach
