Luton Town's top scorer last season Carlton Morris has signed a contract extension with the newly promoted club.

The 27-year-old joined the Hatters last summer from Barnsley.

He went on to score 20 goals as Luton won promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

"We're so pleased to get someone as important to us as Carlton signed on for even longer - he's a brilliant person to have in our squad," said manager Rob Edwards.

Morris came through the youth ranks at Norwich but made just one first-team appearance for the Canaries.

He was sent on loan to seven other teams before Barnsley signed him for an undisclosed fee in January 2021.

Edwards added: "His goals were influential last season, but whenever I spoke about him or was asked about him, it was his all-round game and what he brought to the team, whether it was hold-up play, work-rate, headers, defensive headers in his own box from corners.

"It was everything that he gave the team, as well as the goal threat. He's got great experience now, but he's a good age, someone who is really hungry, and he deserves the opportunity now to have a go in the Premier League."

    Was terrific at Barnsley. Really good signing for Luton town last season and I'm glad he's getting to play in the prem next season. Looks like Mads Anderson is going your way too from us. He will do really well in the premier league. Should look at getting Michel Helik in as well because they already have a good partnership built up.
    I hope you guys stay up! Good luck from a Barnsley fan.

      I knew Carlton and Cauly would add a bit more edge to our play when they were announced last year. It's ironic since Luton and Barnsley got promoted together from League One I had followed the Tykes progress as they're a similar club financially to us, so I was aware of the difference Carlton could make to us. Whatever happened to Darrel Dike though?

    If you get promoted to the Premier league obviously you have earned it...
    I'm not sure how well Luton Town will manage next season... But it will be interesting at the very least ...Good luck Luton Town.

    Carlton is a grand lad and should do well as defences won't know what to expect from him. Should easily be 3 worse teams than Luton next season, certainly 3 clubs that are run appallingly

      How many footballers can you name in today's game that DON'T go down at the slightest touch? I can't think of any.

      Which is really depressing.

      Imagine Maradona in 2023. Nobody would ever know he's a legendary player because he'd spend half his time awaiting decisions. At least in the 80's and 90's he could swerve the leg breaking tackles and carry on. Now, it'd all get pulled up on VAR.

    Ha ha offcourse he’s signed an extension! What’s the alternative? Put in a transfer request and move back to the championship? I reckon Luton players would take a pay cut to play in the premier league. Must be beyond their wildest dreams.
