Owner of 90s van

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but about to start an update of out 1995 caravan we've owned for the past 20 years.

It's dry and well loved so why not update rather than replace 😀.

No doubt I'll be here for help and advice on things to add to our old van.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

All success to you!  I'm all for keeping on the old and well-loved if it's still working well. Our engineer reckons caravans were probably built better anyway back then.
(Writing as the happy owner of an 1890's concertina and an 1860's harmonium, both still going very strong, so it's not just caravans!)

Totally agree in keeping your caravan. We often say we should have not changed our ....... it probably still on the road without any issues.

Good luck and keep us posted. :)

:welcome: to this brilliant forum. I recently  was asked to run through what systems were fitted to a 1993 Bailey beachcomber CD 4 berth and how  they worked . He'd bought  it for a princely  £1000 and it  was in excellent condition nos sign of damp anywhere!. All the appliances worked  on gas , even  the original fridge! and the ancient space heater !

Bought a '94 Buccaneer 4 years ago and haven't used it yet. Just spent a few weeks tidying it up and doing a few upgrades to it. Good luck with yours, be interested to see how you get on with it and what you do.

I used some Fenwicks caravan cleaner as a strong mix in a garden sprayer to soak it. Then followed by a wash with a brush and a weak mix of cleaner in a bucket of hot water.

I'm pretty pleased with the outcome, not perfect but miles better 😀

That's what I used on our van, along with a tub of Silky which worked very well on black streaks and to brighten up the plastic around the lockers. Looks like you've made a great start.

You could set up a caravan cleaning business( I have been asked several times by clients if  I also would clean their caravans).

I'd recommend a final coat of silicone car polish
