Serge Gainsbourg – Cannabis (Bande Originale Du Film)

Finally pulled the trigger after finding a cheap brand new copy.
Obviously the bad rap surrounding GZ worried me but, as many here, i own a few of their pressings and they are not all that bad.

My copy is in the 'works for me while i'm waiting for a better pressing' category:
- record was almost flat, almost marks-free & centered,
- cover is basic but that was expected,
- a few tracks (A2 in particular) have a few cyclic pops but nothing too bad,
- the vocal tracks are not very clear (maybe some saturation in A7),
- Overall, the mix is far frow being very open but this might comes from the original master so...

All in all, better than expected but clearly not mindblowing.

Compte tenu que la seule autre façon d'avoir la BO complète en vinyl est de passer par l'assez mauvais pressage de 2008 par GZ, peut-être que quelqu'un a fait la comparaison avec un OG ?
Comme l'époque & les enregistrements de Gainsbourg ne prêtaient pas toujours aux enregistrements audiophiles, je serais curieux de savoir si ce disque sonne vraiment mieux...

Took a chance with it and ordered a copy, despite the bad reviews regarding pressing quality. Well, a GZ pressing from 2008 doesn't exactly inspire confidence, that's true.
But it's either this or French respectively Canadian originals for 200+ dineros.

My copy is flat, quiet and looks flawlessly. The sonics are decent, not mind-blowing, could be more open but very enjoyable. No complaints.

Bad pressing, a shame. Mr Gainsbourg deserves more respect.
