My friend Jody gifted me one of her @MeltingPotFoodTours featuring the Latin flavors of Boyle Heights in East LA and it was the best day ever. Our tour guide was her brother Kerry Flowers @genrehotels @flowershotelgroup9 one of the funniest people I know, only one of several tour guides. Kerry led us on a historical tour of the neighborhood starting at Mariachi Plaza before we stopped for handmade tastings at 8 of the local family eateries including @birrieriadonboni.
We were happy to get our steps in smelling the aroma of too much great food. We stopped at a marketplace to try spices, and delicacies and shop for souvenirs while listening to live performances. The day ended with a slice of Tres Leches cake and churros. Thank goodness the walk was 3 ½ hours having stopped at 8 tasting spots to indulge ourselves.
I love living in LA and made a promise to myself to enjoy as many neighborhoods and events as the city has to offer instead of waiting for visitors to come to town. Our tour group was ridiculously fun and we all became fast friends. There are tours of the Original Farmers Market, Old Pasadena, East Village Long Beach, Thai Town, and soon a Little Tokyo tour! You can curate a private group tour for friends from small to large groups, or purchase gift certificates. My goal is to accomplish all the tours in 2024!

This was not what we expected. It felt like we were in a group counseling session, as the tour guide was just too intrusive. In fact, she crossed quite a few personal boundaries. Definitely, not a comfortable or enjoyable experience, in our opinion.
However, if you are looking for the "unusual" in terms of dining experiences, this may be the one for you.
Thankfully, my wife and I drank plenty of water throughout the tour... the variety of foods we sampled on the tour did not sit well with us.
Again, it is our opinion that the tour guide was just a bit too intrusive.
We won't be doing this again, nor will we recommend it to our friends or family.
However, if you are looking for the "unusual" in terms of dining experiences, this may be the one for you.

Great food, the tour guide was not up to the standard of other food tour guys we have had who have been much more knowledgeable and interesting. Her interpersonal skills were lacking.

Este lugar es hermoso, desde sus típicos puestos, hasta sus sabores.
Gran cantidad de puestos Gastronómicos. Podes comer aquí en el lugar, o bien podes llevarlo. Encontras comida francés, variedad en te. Carnes, estilo oriental. Puestos de verduras y frutas. Pescados, etc. Lugar abierto.
Esta The Gove con todos sus locales y tiendas. Excelente lugar para pasar en familia

An interesting and adventurous venue within The Grove. Very exciting for foodies, a huge variety and diversity of shops and eateries at all price ranges. Fresh, preserved and organic products from po m meat to fresh veggies. As a foodie and chef, I loved it brought a variety of choice steak cuts, venison & ostrich Jerkys, homemade empanadas and dried okra chips. Pricing varied dramatically depending upon items. I had a ball like a kid in a candy store. Was there early as soon as they opened so I was able to choose the freshest of everything. Very conviniently located at the entrance to The Grove, an upscale shopping mall that I didn't enjoy nearly as much as I loved the Farmers Market!

This is a fantastic tour! I had been to the Los Angeles Farmers Market before--but I got so much more out of my experience by going with Melting Pot Food Tours. There is a lot of history at the Farmers Market and our guide Andrew was amazing and so knowledgeable. The food we sampled was varied and all delicious. Highly recommend this for either local Angeleno's or out of town guests.

Nick was a very personable and experienced guide. He told us about Pasadena's history and took us to a variety of shops. We had Indian, Mexican, and Middle eastern food and did an olive oil tasting and visited a bakery and chocolate shop. Definitely enough food to fill you up for your lunch. Very easy and enjoyable tour.

Andrew with Melting Pot Food Tours was great! Super knowledgeable about the history of the Original Farmer's Market. Great fun and the food selection was amazing. Literally every type of food in a short tour.

The food tour through Old Pasadena was informative, delicious and fun. I learned so much about Pasadena and was able to sample the best of the city. Our tour guide was personable, energetic and knowledgeable. A great value too!

yes it would be great for kids; but I would recommend that they be older than 6. While you are walking around the farmer's market there are opportunities to sit so it should be good for kids. Have fun!

The places you go on the tour are certainly good for children and they are welcome on the tour. You still have to pay full price for each unless they are under 5 yes old. It is a good experience for all.
