Three Wise Men and a Baby was a smashing success for the Hallmark Channel. It premiered in December 2022 and was the most-watched TV movie on cable that year with, averaging 3.6 million total viewers. Inspired by the 1987 classic Three Men and a Baby, the movie shifted format from the usual Hallmark holiday movie and centered on three brothers as they hilariously struggled to take care of a mystery baby ahead of Christmas. It starred Paul Campbell, Tyler Hynes and Andrew Walker as the Brenner brothers and Margaret Colin as their mother. Kimberley Sustad, who co-wrote the script with Campbell, also made a cameo.

When does Three Wise Men and Baby 2 come out? The sequel film, titled Three Wiser Men and a Boy, is currently in production and is set to premiere in December 2024 as part of the network’s 15th annual Countdown to Christmas event.

The new movie picks up five years later ahead of Christmas. The official logline reads: “In a crazy turn of events, possibly brought on accidentally by the brothers themselves, the director of Luke’s (Walker) son Thomas’ (Miles Marthaller) school holiday musical steps down. Luke is desperate to make his son’s stage dreams come true, so he enlists the help of his brothers Taylor (Hynes) and Stephan (Campbell). Meanwhile, the trio navigates meeting their mom Barbara’s (Margaret Colin) new boyfriend and the brothers grapple with their own feelings about this relationship. In true Brenner brother fashion, they are all in for a Christmas they will never forget.”

Campbell and Sustad are co-writing the script again, along with Russell Hainline. Campbell had previously hinted at a sequel during an exclusive interview with Soaps.com. “It’s finding the right story that’s really important,” he said. “It’s difficult because when you write a movie as a one-off, you really do tie up all the loose ends in a nice neat bow at the very end and so to write a sequel … You really have to reinvent the wheel a little bit.” The A Godwink Christmas star revealed that a sequel had already been discussed by the network, noting: “I think it’s absolutely a possibility. And I would jump at the chance.”

He and his co-stars announced the sequel on Instagram in a joint post shared on April 25. Alongside a photo of the cast hugging, they wrote: “You asked…so we’re back. Welcome home 🙂 3 Wiser Men And A Boy 👱🏻‍♂️🧔🏻🧑🏻‍🦱 + 👦🏻 Coming this holiday season 🎄.”

Fans were thrilled about the news and expressed their excitement for the sequel in the comments section. “Awww this is already the best Christmas gift one can ask for!! Thank you all!!! 🙏 Patiently waiting but at the same time can’t wait for Christmas season to come!!! 😅😍🥰,” one fan wrote. Another commented: “Well that just made my day ☺️❤️.” A third fan chimed in, “About to break cable with this premiere. Countdown to Christmas can’t come soon enough.”
