Cambodian rock (1960s–1970s)
This song is a classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y04fy9GywSo
There is a modern band that plays this style of music called 'Dengue Fever', they covered this song on their first album.
DF introduced me to a lot of different Cambodian artists. Sinn Sisamouth is probably my favorite.
I've been listening to this non-stop the past 6 months. Absolutely crazy seeing it in a reddit comment!
There's an album called "Cambodian Rocks" on Spotify with a ton of great songs.
I think people mostly believe cultural accomplishments are permanent in the modern age, I always think of this though and how little we have left from that time. It scares the shit out of me.
I mean that’s what happens when you genocide a quarter of the population and deport everyone to the country side. The Khmer Rouge were bloody maniacs
It is to this day a major brain drain on Cambodia.
I am currently grappling with this realization as well. It’s not that I didn’t know about the fall of Rome or how progressive Iran used to be, it’s just that you never think it will happen to you, and then BAM!
Sinn Sisamouth's rendition of "Whiter Shade of Pale" is a classic.
Fuck Pol Pot
Hey, cool! What happened nex- oh dear GOD
Here is a spotify Playlist of Cambodia rock'n'roll that I love, with some old and newer homage music

How many of them were killed in the Khmer Rouge...
I got into Cambodian rock a little bit last year, and would look up the bios of a lot of these artists when they'd pop up on my stream. It seemed as if they almost all ended up "disappearing" during the Pol Pot regime. It was shocking to realize.
Where people dress in black
Don't forget to pack a wife.
Here's another good song I think there's a docu called "Don't Think I've Forgotten: Cambodia's Lost Rock and Roll" from 2014.
Another one from Cambodian Swing machine, iirc the creator of the compilation posted on Reddit at some point.
