Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson mocked West Ham striker Michail Antonio for scoring a brace against AEK Larnaca in the 1st leg of the Europa Conference League Round of 16 clash.
David Moyes’ side have since beaten the minnows 4-0 and qualified for the last 8, where they have been drawn to face Belgian side Genk. While the £85,000-a-week man has struggled for form much like his club this season, he showcased his class during the tie.
However, Callum Wilson poked fun at Michail Antonio for scoring against the Conference League side, as the pair are extremely close friends and tend to rib each other on BBC’s Footballer’s Football Podcast.

While some may be taken aback by the Magpies goalscorer’s frankness and perhaps perceive that as even disrespectful, his comments are meant to be tongue-in-cheek.
However, Callum Wilson could not resist after Michail Antonio gave his account on the 1st leg after bagging a pair of strikes against AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League.
Antonio opened, “It was a good game, I enjoyed it and got two goals. I should’ve had a hat trick, I hit the post. It would’ve been the perfect hat trick too, header, right foot left foot.”
However, Callum Wilson replied to Michail Antonio about his heroics in the Europa Conference League by saying “Pub team, he can only score against pub teams. Against Larnaka, I’d have had 5. This Europa League Conference thing, you’re playing guys who are working at the bars on the pleasure beach and the next minute, they are playing a football game against you.”
“They’re giving away pornstar martinis, then turning up to play you. All of a sudden you want to start talking on the podcast about your form.”
The Irons legend retorted, “You lot need to start winning games or you won’t even make it in there! Let’s try that one out, see how you do against these people who you call pub players.”
Ultimately, the exchange emphasised just how close Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio are as after all, the former is only joking when commenting on the standard of the Europa Conference League.
