Jesse Owens Track is home to the Cal State L.A. soccer and track & field teams.  With permanent bleacher seating for approximately 5,000 spectators, it also hosts many other events throughout the year, including the University's commencement ceremony each June.

In preparation for the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles, Cal State LA was selected as one of the six sites to construct a world-class training track.  The groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 29, 1982.

The initial surface selected by the L.A. Organizing Committee for the track was
"Recaflex S." This surface, know for its versatility, is hard enough to record fast times but still soft enough to allow for a regular training regiment.

The track was officially dedicated on May 22, 1983, during the L.A. Regional Championships of the ARCO Jesse Owens Games.

The stadium underwent a major renovation in 2018 with the installation of a new, state-of-the-art turf soccer field and a new, state-of-the-art track.

Reeder Field in the Billie Jean King Sports Complex is home of Cal State LA baseball, is named for Jim Reeder, who served as Golden Eagles head coach from 1958-71, compiling a 397-272-6 (.593) record during that span, holding the record for wins by a Cal State LA mentor until John Herbold, who retired with 455 wins from 1984-2004. With seating for approximately 600 fans directly on field level, Reeder Field offers Cal State LA baseball fans a chance to be close to the action.

In the spring of 2020, a new baseball scoreboard was installed just beyond the left field fence at Reeder Field. The scoreboard rests behind the indoor batting cages, which were built in 2015.

In the winter of 2010, a new artificial turf infield was installed at Reeder Field. The turf extends to both dugouts and has given the ballpark the nicest playing surface in the conference. It also gives the baseball field the ability to maintain a safe playing surface during inclement weather.

The ballpark has several nuances which make it unique among collegiate fields.  The short 310-foot distance down the left field line at Reeder Field quickly darts out to 350, very similar to the “Pesky Pole” setup found in right field at Fenway Park in Boston.

If left field is L.A.’s version of Fenway Park, then right field must be considered our own version of Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Just like the Baltimore Orioles home ballpark, the right field porch at Reeder Field is an inviting target to left-handed hitters.  The line is a standard 331 feet, but the shortest distance to right field is 325, just inside the line.  It’s in the right-center power alley where eyeballs of lefty sluggers get larger.  The distance to that alley is a mouth-watering 337 feet while “deep” right-center is a mere 362 feet.  However, like Camden Yards, you have to get the ball up.  A 30-foot high wall protects the adjacent parking lot and campus buildings from would-be home run balls at Reeder Field.  Worth noting, the wall at Camden Yards is only 25-feet tall.
