Have ordered takeaway twice from here since they opened, really delicious food. We are only a 3 min car journey away so our food has arrived on both occasions very quickly and I would therefore be confident the quality of the we received was as...good as served straight to plate in the restaurant. From the 'starters' section of the menu we have tried all the cheesey pastry options (all really nice and would highly recommend, super flaky pastry and lovely balanced fillings - not sickly or greasy) grilled halloumi (the herbs give this a lovely flavour), baba ganoush (we order this to eat the following days for lunch and it's lovely) ful madamas (this dish has a fair amount of onion in it which we were originally dubious of as it looked almost raw, but their taste is not sharp at all and it goes really well with the beans, really tasty with pitta to mop up the juices, the chilli sauces & baba ganoush the next day for lunch!). You get enormous portions of rice with each main which has a lovely fragrant spice sprinkled on the top to elevate it, the vegetarian spinach main is really flavorful and the sweet crispy onions add great texture (spinach dishes can sometimes just feel like mush in the mouth but this worked really well), and the mosaka was rich and moreish. We will definitely keep ordering from Yara when we want a takeaway treat and hope to visit in person at some point when we are allowed family up to visit! We feel the prices reflect the quality of the food and that there is a great variety of items on the menu for vegetarians.More

Thanks to Tier 4 lockdown, our traditional celebrations with friends took a back seat and as a last minute idea, I took to the internet to find somewhere that might deliver a meal to save us cooking. It being 12.30pm on New Year's Eve afternoon,...family thought I was mad trying to secure a meal at such late notice. However, I clicked on Yara (we really fancied Lebanese/Syrian) via Deliveroo to find that the spot i chose was available at 7.15 in the evening. We ordered a mixed kebab for Mrs Steddyeddy, and I opted for the Mediterranean spinach with lamb meatballs. Wonderfully citrus-infused, brilliantly-cooked, balanced spinach that wasn't too soft or wasn't undercooked, so fresh and so tasty I didn't want it to end. We added a Greek Salad (fresh and delicious) and a ridiculously good value for money mixed seasonal pickle selection that will last us three days! Starter was minced meat on filo pastry and absolutely one of the best starters in years. There were also dips and pitta bread. Now while we have the luxury of being only a few minutes drive from the restaurant, our food was piping hot and the aroma was delightful. The meal was due to arrive at 7.16 (the mechanics of Deliveroo) and it arrived . . . . . . . at 7.16. Oh, and all the food containers were clearly labelled and identified. We cannot wait to try the restaurant in person when lockdown ends. Fair dues to Yara for persevering when they plainly haven't had the chance to entertain too many personal customers in their premises. Only down side is a little pricy at £48 nett (delivery was free via a special offer from Deliveroo, but I did tip the driver and a small tip also to the restaurant, pushing the final bill to a grand total of £58 gross), although there was plenty to eat. However, Yara, despite being a sit-in restaurant, have the takeaway aspect tuned to a tee, and the food was really wonderful.More

Had a fabulous meal earlier today, Potato Hare starter , cubes of potato in a sublime rich tomato sauce which was a touch hot and sour, perfectly balanced . For main I had lamb Shish Kebab , lovely lean cubes of lamb, cooked to perfection,...just a little pink in the middle . It was served attractively on a bed of fresh parsley ( I think) and thin slices of red onion . The Shami rice it came with was fabulous, boiled rice with fried vermicelli , quite delicious. It was served with a little jug of chilli sauce on the side which had a bit of a kick ,but tempered with herbs. Absolutely fabulous . The entire meal was faultless , we’ll be going again.More

I'm only giving the two stars because the staff are really nice but this place needs to step up their game if they are going to be anything like their sister restaurant in South Manchester. I've been twice now, once for a takeaway and once...to sit in. Had the same food on both occasions to compare. Starting off with falafel which was dry. The meat bourak was drier than the falafel and didn't look fresh in the slightest. Mains I had the mixed kebab and that too was dry and really tough to eat. The same food on dine in was exactly the same. I guess it's a new restaurant and they have to find their feet but when they are charging much more than their competitors based in Prestwich they have to dramatically improve.More

We ordered a meal for delivery on the Yara Whitefeild website. Over an hour after it was supposed to be delivered – I called the restaurant to find out where the order was. They advised that the order hadn’t been made – but they had...charged me and sent a confirmation email and a delivery time. The restaurant then apologised and said they’d rush it through and deliver it. They then called back 20 mins later and said they were no longer willing to deliver, and I had to collect. When I arrived to collect which was a huge inconvenience, they were very confrontational asking for evidence that I had placed the order. I showed them their own website, their own email from their own menu.. but they refused acknowledge that it was their restaurant. (There is only one Yara restaurant in Whitefield). After ten minutes of them arguing with me, essentially accusing me of lying to them, I suggested to them that it wasn’t my problem and I asked for the food. They then refused to offer any compensation for the then, two hour delay and whole ordeal, suggesting that I take the food and leave. When I arrived home, I found that some elements of the dishes which were listed on the menu were missed out. To top it off, the food was overcooked, flavourless and dry – my party couldn’t finish it because it was so poor. I am still in shock about the disgraceful and rude behaviour of the staff and the complete discard for customer service. For a new restaurant trying to get their name out there – they shouldn’t be treating local customers like this. There are many nice restaurants in the area – and I’d recommend any of them over this place.More

Four of us went to the restaurant for lunch today. The restaurant was very quiet and we had no problem in being able to social distance. The menu is typically Middle Eastern and reasonably priced. The service was very good and the food was excellent. I would...have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone.More

Let me start first of all to say the staff at Yara were lovely and very polite, the food however definitely not up to scratch. Having visited the Yara in Cheadle we were really looking forward to our visit for a special family occasion and...had high hopes however was extremely disappointed. The menu did not describe the dishes properly and needs to be revisited, the meat was dry and overcooked as well as ridiculously overpriced. Also dishes were just a plate of meat for the most part. The best part of the meal was the hummus (but this was the only thing the party enjoyed). Would t recommend and is such a shame after visiting the sister restaurant in Cheadle.More

Brilliant first time in Yara Whitefield. I’ve been to the restaurant in Altrincham a couple of times, and this lived up to my expectations. It’s BYOB which is always nice, and the food was all amazing. We had falafel, halloumi, sujok and hummus shwarma for...starters which were all great, then lamb chops, mixed kebab, lamb shish and chicken shwarma between the four of us for mains. Again, no complaints at all. The lamb chops were a particular highlight, really well marinaded and the portion size is great. Finished off with baklava and another pistachio filo pastry which I’ve forgotten the name of, again excellent. Service was attentive but not overbearing, which is always a plus. Will definitely returnMore

This is definitely somewhere to avoid no parking, no atmosphere, and poor service the food is lacking in everything from appearance to taste definitely nothing special here. Very expensive for the mediocre amounts I had the hummus with bread and chicken kebabs starter I’ve had...tastier from a supermarket very oily and gritty the kebabs were insulting you get more from a cold deli on a ready to eat situation. There is not atmosphere staff although working hard have no interaction. Please save your hard earned cash a takeaway or supermarket is far better and cheaper. Never will I set foot in this establishment again. It’s a -2 out of 10 from me SorryMore

Amazing staff and great food! We’ve been a few times recently, each time we’ve had a different waiter/waitress but each one has been absolutely outstanding. Just so friendly, smiley and good at their jobs. The food is also great! We love sharing a mix of...starters then also sharing mains. All the dishes are a decent size so great for sharing! The Greek salad is a great side option too!More

We visited Yara before lockdown when it was first opened. Tonight was a first visit since it’s improvements and we weren’t disappointed. The restaurant was spotless, we had a great welcome and choice of table. The staff were welcoming and knew the menu inside out...… we had a lot of questions (as usual). Starter appeared in no time… followed by the most beautiful and incredibly tender chicken and lamb dishes we’ve had in Whitefield. Portions were extremely generous and excellent value. Rest rooms were well stocked, clean and comfortable. Decor was of a high standard and the plants were well cared for - big plus on our tick list : ) We will definitely be regulars 👍🏻More

We have been visiting or getting a takeaway from Yara(originally in Altrincham and now we use Whitefield) for 10 years plus. The food is big portions, lots of meat and generally quick from ordering to eating, One new years eve we had 3 courses in...less than an hour at Altrincham. Latest order was NYE 2022 from Whitefield, I had Sujok (lamb sausages) very dry bland Lamb chipolata style sausages and Lamb chops for main course again very dry and bland and overcooked. the portions were massive though, mine was enough for 2 people but I will never order these again (Bland with a capital B). I had the Mediterranean salad too and this is the best salad I have ever had, I really could eat this all day and every day and could quite easily be a vegetarian if i had this at every meal. My wife had the hommos Shwarama which was extremely creamy and delicious and came with 3 massive pittas and she also had the chicken shawarma for main course which she enjoyed. I had the walnut honey cake dessert which was amazing. Good big portions but make sure you read the menu and don't just have a meat only dish as it is a bit bland. My personal recommendation is Lahembajeen , followed by Chicken sharhat and a Mediterranean salad and baklava for dessertMore

I picked this restaurant for my husband’s birthday as it is local, and we like to support local businesses where possible. We both love Lebanese/Syrian/Middle Eastern food so this was the perfect choice. It’s not many restaurants where I struggle to choose something because every...choice seems delicious, but this was one. I chose the Keshkeh as my starter which was light, refreshing and delicious. My husband had the kibbeh Makli which was full of flavour with tender minced lamb. For our main courses my husband chose the lamb basha which had the most flavourful sauce, whilst I had the mixed kebab which had a lovely smoky flavour from the charcoal grill, whilst being moist. The last tender chunk of lamb defeated me as I was very full. The waiters were so pleasant and helpful, yet the service was unobtrusive. Just what you want. It is so nice to eat in a restaurant that still has starched, crisp white tablecloths and napkins. There were plenty of people in the restaurant and there was a nice ambiance. It was our first visit, but certainly not our last.More

Not an expensive place and there are local pubs to go to before or after.More
