What travelers are saying
- RYC88Centreville, VA1,315 contributionsWhat fun to walk out on the causeway on this wonderful trail. Plenty of room for bikers and walkers and fabulous views of Lake Champlain and over to NY. Nice and flat and easy for all. The only issue is parking, if you are a walker, as you have to park at Causeway Park, well before you know you are at the Island Line Trail. If you go past the park, you come to a neighborhood that is restricted to homeowners only and have to turn around. The park has a tiny lot, so you might have to continue back even further to find a place.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hockeyaw19Marlborough, MA461 contributionsChecked out Burlington on Sunday before the eclipse and took a stroll alongside the waterfront.
We parked near church street marketplace and it took maybe 15 minutes to walk to the water.
The area was nice - very open and green. It was quite windy the day we went which added a bit of a chill. There wasn't too much happening aside from the views. They did have a clean, public restroom near the spirit of Ethan Allen boat.
The return walk fairly steep - no issues for those in shape but could be challenging for someone with mobility issues.Written April 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was especially fun to bring my kids this year. We weren't there long, just a little stop after breakfast at Handy's and getting a gift for a friend's new puppy, but we did pop into a few stores. It's beautiful in the summer, but the magic is in the fall!Written April 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David WSouth Burlington, VT18 contributionsThis company is friendly, efficient, and can always be counted upon to do its best. My car battery died while on the Grand Isle ferry and the crew quickly appeared and jump started it, saving the day. They are the best. - gostartravelerForked River, NJ1,947 contributionsWhat a great place! We got here later than I wanted, getting here at 3 (and they close at 5), but kid enjoyed the two hours here, building and racing a Lego racer, role playing in the Champ Lane area, and looking at the fish. Just enough time, although we could have spent longer. One of our regrets is that we didn't have enough time to watch a 3D movie, which looked interesting. Due to construction, the ECHO parking lot is inaccessible, but we parked at the adjacent lot (cards only, $10 for our stay, and there was only one price option; it wasn't per hour.) We'll definitely be back and stay longer next time we're in the area.Written August 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JBonn659204 contributionsWent here today for first time. Great friendly staff and vendors. I will be back again for sure. Parking is a little tricky as not on site but can walk over.Written September 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Previa1994Chicago, IL6,401 contributionsI stopped at Foam Brewers during a visit to Burlington. The location is awesome with great views of Lake Champlain. The taproom has a huge bar and is attractively decorated. There are a lot of beers to choose from, but they do not offer flights which was disappointing. The smallest size they serve is a half pour. The two beers I had were excellent IPAs. No food from the brewery, but food trucks visit here. Foam Brewers is certainly a worthwhile stop for craft beers.Written March 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 2kayakers2015Massena, NY17 contributionsMy husband and I attended an event at the Flynn, and found the venue to have great seating, friendly staff, and beautiful art deco details. We attended the Shen Yun performance, which billed itself in glowing, extraordinary terms. The orchestra and dancers were skilled, and costumes were colorful; however, the show is actually an ad promoting the Falun Gong religious movement. It was heavy-handed at times in its rejection of evolution and modern culture. Skits and dance routines were repetitive, and tickets were greatly overpriced for this event. We recommend the Flynn, but unfortunately, not this show.Written February 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark Brendan HWheatley Heights, NY3 contributionsWe drove through / past the campus of UVM. Looks beautiful as you’d expect, but we spent no time there at all. The Lake Champlain waterfront area is very nice — spread out, neat and inviting. We went on a 90 minute cruise on the Ethan Allen and though it was cloudy & breezy, it was a very fine little trip and well worth the $40-something tag (which included a full lunch served by a very attentive staff). We like Burlington a lot. And especially Church Street where it’s set up for pedestrians only….they’ve got dozens of modest-sized but quite fine retail stores & restaurants & taverns, etc. As for lodging—we didn’t stay in Burlington because we had a super deal in nearby Waterbury at a Marriott Fairfield….about a 20-30 minute drive away.Written November 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pigafetta JournalsMaryland702 contributionsA beautiful park on the coast of Lake Champlain in Burlington. Plenty of parking space but I wont surprised if this place gets packed. There's play area and pavilions. You can also rent kayaks, SUPs and canoes.Written May 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark GCatonsville, MD3,382 contributionsOakledge Park is a nice little park in south Burlington with some nice facilities. The beach has great views of Lake Champlain and the Burlington shoreline. The beach is rounded, and quite rocky in some areas. There are picnic tables, pavilions, walking trails, tennis and volleyball courts as well as a playground. There is a cool treehouse to climb as well as bathrooms. It will cost you $2 an hour to park from May to October.Written August 30, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - browney237Adelaide, Australia410 contributionsI have recently discovered Bourbon and was in Burlington, so I decided to do a tasting flight at Mad River.
I arrived about 4pm so had the place to myself.
It’s a cocktail bar which would also be fun, but I was keen to sample their wares.
I ordered a tasting flight. I had no idea what to choose so with the help,of the bar tender made a selection that he assured me would show off the distillery. The flight comes with tasting notes via a QR code or as was the case a walk through the whiskies by the very knowledgeable bar tender. My favourite was the whiskey matured in the Cabernet casks.
It was a leisurely walk through the whiskies. A very enjoyable hour or so and at $8US not expensive.
If I was a local I’d definitely have some of their whiskey on my shelf at home.Written January 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
