Convict Billy Brown (Vincent Gallo) dreads going home so much upon his release from prison that he tries to get back inside. In desperation, Billy kidnaps Layla (Christina Ricci) from a tap dancing class and pleads with her to impersonate his wife and to accompany him home to visit his parents, Janet (Anjelica Huston) and Jimmy (Ben Gazzara). Billy Brown just got out of jail. Now he's going to serve some real time. He's going home. Buffalo '66 is a 1998 American independent film directed by Vincent Gallo 🎭 It's ok, but I feel mixed about this one 😉 I'd recommend it if you like this genre, but if not then probably give it a miss 👍🏼👎🏼 This is a little sad and disturbing at times, but also somewhat intriguing… Billy is released after five years in prison. In the next moment, he kidnaps teenage student Layla and visits his parents with her, pretending she is his girlfriend and they will soon marry.

I've heard this film recommended before but surely it should be higher regarded in wider circles. An original edgy rom/com which is both funny and endearing. The performances from Gallo and Ricci are outstanding. I simply wasn't expecting something as original and good as this. Watched on Amazon Prime.

Gallo's artistic touch comes through while highlighting the director/writer/actor's own shortcomings on film. Ricci steals the show in more ways than one can imagine and also inspired a song by the duo, Wet Leg called "Wet Dream."
