F.W. Buchholz High School Reviews
Rating 3.78 out of 5 356 reviews
Buchholz has a strong DECA chapter, and are strong in their athletics. But there were often bats in hallways, shooting/bomb threats, bullying, sexual assault, harassment and stalking were known issues. Administration did not handle these problems and on numerous occasions told females that “boys will be boys” when they reported assault or harassment. Drugs and fights were a campus wide problem. Academically, they were okay but not outstanding. Some students raised the totals of the entire school, many did not. The school was extraordinarily overcrowded as well, with close to 3000 students on a campus built for less than 2500.
My time at Buchholz has been a vivid journey, filled with passion-fueled moments. Artistic pursuits like ceramics and 2-D drawings rekindled childhood joy, letting me express creativity. Varsity Weightlifting turned passion into excellence, making the regionals team in my first year a thrilling achievement. My first football game created a mesmerizing atmosphere, with cheers and dances celebrating our team's touchdowns!
On a less positive note, restroom facilities lacking utilities and cleanliness were dissatisfying. Positive change is needed—more federal funding, fundraisers, and charity support can renovate facilities and fairly compensate custodians. A clean environment is crucial, as no one wants an unclean restroom. Despite challenges, Buchholz remains exceptional, a canvas for artistic expression, athletic triumphs, and transformative experiences.
