Bryan Fuller Set to Direct New ‘Christine’ Adaptation for Sony, Blumhouse

Christine

Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) is set to write and direct a brand new adaptation of Stephen King’s Christine for Sony and Blumhouse Studios.

King’s novel focuses on a young man named Arnie who becomes obsessed with a 1958 Plymouth Fury that he purchases to fix up. The car has a sinister past and a taste for blood and soon it bends the young man to its will while eliminating anyone who insults them or tries to separate them.

The book was previously adapted by John Carpenter back in 1983. The horror master’s vision of the novel came with a killer score as well as an unforgettable soundtrack of classic 50s/60s rock.

According to Deadline, Jason Blum will produce the film under the Blumhouse banner along with Vincenzo Natali and Steven Hoban. Peter Kang is repping Sony Picture on the film.

Fuller comes to the piece with a solid catalog of work in the genre including cult-television favorites like Hannibal and Pushing Daisies as well as his work on the first–and many would argue best–season of American Gods based on the novel by Neil Gaiman.

The new adaptation joins a rather extensive queue of film adaptations of King’s properties over the last decade with new versions of The Stand and Firestarter as well as first-time adaptation of properties like The Outsider and Lisey’s Story, both of which have received incredible reviews.

iHorror will keep you posted on Fuller’s new version of Christine as they become available. Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Ari Aster-Produced ‘Sasquatch Sunset’ is 2024’s WTF Movie Moment [Trailer]

Published

Sasquatch Sunset

As we have seen with Beau is Afraid, director Ari Aster, when left to his own devices, loves to see his audience asking, “What the f**k did I just watch?” Although he didn’t direct Sasquatch Sunset, he produced it, and what a weird NSFW experience indeed — and that’s just the trailer!

In what seems like part absurd nature documentary and part Christopher Guest expose, we find ourselves exploring the private lives of three Bigfoot, or Sasquatch for those into bipedal cryptoids. Sasquatch Sunset is directed by David and Nathan Zellner who are just as quirky as Aster when it comes to storytelling.

According to IMDb, the film had many walkouts during its premiere at Sundance Film Festival this year. It should be noted that the film is rated R for, “some sexual content, full nudity and bloody images.” This isn’t the first time David Zellner has explored the mythical and elusive primates. In 2010, he directed a short called Sasquatch Birth Journal 2 which is exactly what it says it is. We have provided that video after the Sasquatch Sunset trailer.

TRAILER: ‘The Piper’ Stars Julian Sands in One of His Final Roles

Published

Piper

It was a sad day when we learned of the passing of actor Julian Sands. Sadder still was the way he died. But his legacy lives on in the upcoming horror movie The Piper which is set to hit a few theaters and digital services on March 8.

The story follows a conductor named Gustafson (Sands) who asks one of his musicians to finish a cursed concerto. As she does, an evil is unleashed which seems to affect the children who listen to it. The story is based on the fable The Pied Piper of Hamelin.

Another movie starring Elizabeth Hurley also borrows the same fairy tale concept but is unrelated to this one.

Julian Sands is mostly remembered for his late 80s and early 90s roles. He had a notable part in Arachnophobia as Dr. James Atherton who tried to help a small town defeat an infestation of killer hybrid spiders.

But Sands is probably mostly remembered by horror fans for playing the titular character in Steve Miner’s (Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part 3) Warlock. He returned for a non-linear reboot portraying the same character in 1993.

The Piper also stars Charlotte Hope, Kate Nichols and Oliver Savell.

This is unfortunate news for the upcoming film. According to the report from The Hollywood Reporter, Universal and David Leitch have parted ways on the film. It was said to be due to creative differences and was amicable. While it was never officially announced that he was developing it, this report seemingly confirms that it was in fact happening. The film still has a release date of July 2, 2025. Check out more about this upcoming film below.

Jurassic World 4 will be bringing back David Koepp who is the writer for Jurassic Park 1 & 2 to write the script for this film. The script has been in the works for a while and is in well liked shape. Koepp described the film as a new Jurassic era with a new storyline. Frank Marshall, Patrick Crowley, and Steven Spielberg are back as producers for this new entry. No cast has been announced and actors from the previous films have not stated whether they are returning or not.

The previous film Jurassic World Dominion dominated at the box office making $1.004B on a $265M budget. While the film wasn’t a big hit with critics only receiving a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes, it did way better with the audience scoring a 77%. The film was directed by Colin Trevorrow and starred Chris Pratt, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, Bryce Dallas Howard, and many more.

This is disappointing news as it was going to be exciting to see a director who is known for action packed films transition to a possibly action-packed dinosaur film. Universal will be hard at work finding another director if they want to keep that same release date for next year. Were you disappointed that they parted ways, or do you think it was the right choice? Let us know in the comments below. Also, check out the previous films trailer below.
