Bruce Lansbury, a veteran TV producer and the younger brother of actress Angela, died Monday.
He was 87.
Lansbury died in California after battling Alzheimer’s disease, his daughter, Felicia Lansbury Meyer, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Known best for his work on “Murder, She Wrote” alongside his sister, Lansbury produced 88 episodes and wrote 15 when he joined the show in the ninth season in 1992 until the finale in 1996.
Lansbury, the grandson of former Labor Party leader George Lansbury, also worked on “The Wild Wild West,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Wonder Woman” and “Knight Rider.”
His twin brother, Edgar, also worked in television, producing “Coronet Blue,” but his credits were primarily in the theater.
In the late 1960s, Bruce Lansbury joined Paramount Television as the vice president of creative affairs and was credited with legendary shows including “The Brady Bunch,” “Happy Days” and “The Odd Couple.”
He created the short-lived “Magician,” which starred Bill Bixby and ran from 1973 to 1974, and the 1987 made-for-TV movie “The Return of the Six-Million-Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman.”
Lansbury is survived by his brother and sister, daughters Felicia and Christiane, second wife Gail England and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
