Just off the traditional tourist trail. Great views of Brooklyn Bridge, East River and some lovely restaurants (and choices at Time Out) . Many great iconic views but the “tourists” have now found !

Brooklyn Heights is a neighbourhood in Brooklyn and possibly the inspiration for a drag queen?

I visited by getting the subway to Brooklyn and walking down to the riverside. There are signposts and google maps helped me along the way too.

The area is very clean and tidy and there are plenty of places to sit and admire the views of Manhattan, Governor's Island and the Brooklyn Bridge.

    Highly recommended!

I had an amazing experience! Walking among the cherry blossoms was great. What's even better is that they offer a map for locating the cherry blossoms. The park features distinct sections that impressed me, including a rainforest area that requires a downstairs walk.

Just a tip: considering the vast area, it's advisable to plan your visit thoughtfully. Additionally, having a designated parking area adds to the convenience even though you have to pay. :)

I love a transport museum! This is particularly atmospheric because it is housed in a former subway station. I hadn't expected there to be so much to see but I was there nearly 3 hours. The first level has displays about the building of the subway system, about buses and trams, various old ticket machines and turnstiles, and some partial vehicles for kids to "drive". On the lower level - the platform - there are many old trains and carriages lined up along the platform, full of interesting old adverts and information about each type of carriage. I can't help preferring the cosy dark green 1917-era trains to the stainless steel 1970s ones! I particularly liked the old photos on display, taken by 2 brothers who documented the construction of the subway tunnels, but also took photos of the streets before they were dug up - such a great social record of early 20th century New York.

We came specifically to see the exhibit Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys. What an amazing collection. My only issue was that for the photography some of the lighting was placed in a way that it glared onto the picture, requiring you to look at it from an angle.
From that exhibit we went to explore the others floors. It has an array of objects, more than we could fully appreciate with the time we had. We’ll definitely plan a return visit.

It feels odd to write a review for what is still a working cemetery, but they do encourage visitors and photography, and it is an amazing place to visit. 478 acres, established in 1838, and full of incredible tombs and mausoleums, some of well-known people such as Leonard Bernstein and Samuel Morse, and others to people you have never heard of but often even more impressive in appearance. There is an excellent free map you can pick up at the entrance highlighting points of interest, including noteworthy monuments and also significant trees and other natural features, but there must be so many unknown stories attached to the people buried here. I spent 4 hours walking around here and hardly saw anyone else. If you want peace and history, this is the place to go.

Loved this. We popped in just at opening time hoping just to sample a beer or two in the taproom but had the chance to join the tour. I’ve done longer tours but we had a fantastic energetic guide who took our small group of 6 around the small brewery and some interesting test beer tastings. We ended with some rare tastings back in the bar - and after ended up in the pub quiz! Brooklyn offer so much more than their favourite lager - I’m a hazy fan and also admire their Special Effects zero. Even the stouts were a feast of flavours. Recommended.
