The lads are getting back together for a mystery from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts
Apple TV's Wolves will reunite George Clooney and Brad Pitt for the first time in 15 years

Some pairings are just destined to stand the test of time: Fish and chips, gin and vermouth, pickles and peanut butter (trust us on this one). But no partnership continues to deliver and thrive like the on-screen magnetism of George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who are re-teaming for a new Apple TV+ thriller.

After securing their place as the bro duo supreme in the likes of the Ocean's 11 franchise and Burn After Reading, the pair are breaking their 15-year hiatus for the Jon Watts (of current Spider-Man iteration fame)-written and directed film Wolves.

The film, which is being produced by Apple Studios, is another example of them nabbing the most A-list of A-list talent for their roster. Remind us to try and nab an invite to that Christmas party.

Here's everything we know about Wolves.

What is Wolves about?

Like any good mystery thriller, Wolves is keeping its cards close to its chest and its claw retracted.

According to the logline by IMDB, the film “Follows two lone wolf fixers who are assigned to the same job.” Alright lads, don't spoil everything for us! That really is about everything that's been revealed so far, aside from a few on-set pictures of Clooney and Pitt shooting together in a car in New York City.

What we do know, however, is that we'll be able to see this film in cinemas once it's released. According to Clooney, who is producing the film alongside his long-time production partner Grant Heslop, Pitt took a pay cut to ensure the film hit the big as well as the small screen.

“It was an exciting time because it got to be one of those weird bidding wars which happen every once in a while," he told Deadline, adding “and it ended up being pretty extreme, and Apple came in with a really big number for Brad and I, and we said we’d like to take less as long as we can guarantee that we can have a theatrical release, and they said great. So, I do think that there’s a way that we can all co-exist.”

Who is starring in Wolves?

The film has been described as a two-hander between Clooney and Pitt, so they really are the stars of the show here. The pair are both producing the film through their respective production companies, Clooney's Smokehouse Productions and Pitt's Plan B Entertainment.

However, despite the lens firmly being on the Hollywood super duo, Euphoria and Do Revenge star Austin Abrams has landed a coveted role alongside them. According to Deadline, the “third lead” role became one of the most sought-after jobs in Hollywood for young actors, and Watts and Apple execs met extensively with actors hoping to nab the star-making role. Insiders have said Abrams' “two tests ultimately blew the director and Apple away.”

Elsewhere in the cast, it's been reported that Amy Ryan has signed on to star in the film. Ryan is probably most known for her roles in The Office, Only Murders in the Building and Beautiful Boy. Most recently, she appeared in Ari Aster's masturbation freakout Beau is Afraid.

When will Wolves be released?

There's no word yet on when Wolves is set to hit our screens. Principle photography began at the beginning of the year and Pitt and Clooney were spotted filming scenes together in January. It's probably safe to say the movie will make its way to us in early 2024 at the earliest.
