With rumors circling about Jared Padalecki potentially joining the cast of The Boys, season 4 already has the perfect role for him. Amazon's hit superhero show has gone from strength to strength over the years, becoming one of Prime Video's flagship shows, and it could have another new addition to its cast. Jared Padalecki could make an appearance in The Boys as he revealed that showrunner, Eric Kripke, reached out to him about potentially joining the series. Padalecki seemingly expressed interest, explaining he wanted time to get ripped before joining the show due to The Boys' frequent nudity.

While Padalecki's response seemed sarcastic, it did indicate he would be open to joining the series under the right circumstances. He would undoubtedly be an exciting addition to the show, and he already has several connections to the cast that would make him a perfect fit. If he did become an official cast member, it would create questions about who the actor would play. There are several The Boys characters that Jared Padalecki could comfortably pull off, but one role particularly stands out, with the actor's Supernatural connections making a certain supe the perfect fit.

Jared Padalecki Playing The Boys' Soldier Boy II Would Be Hilarious

Jared Padalecki Replacing Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy Would Be Ironically Perfect

Soldier Boy II would be a hilariously fitting role for Jared Padalecki if he joined The Boys. Both The Boys and Gen V have featured Supernatural reunions, and adding Padalecki to the cast would offer another one. Padalecki played Sam Winchester in Supernatural, with Jensen Ackles playing his brother Dean, and The Boys season 4 could allow them to reunite. If Padalecki were to play Soldier Boy II, it would be even more fitting given Ackles plays the original version, and this would essentially make Padalecki's modern Soldier Boy a replacement for Ackles' character.

Given The Boys comics have two versions of Soldier Boy, this would be a realistic possibility. Ackles' character is the original who was around back in WW2 and died in the comics, while Padalecki would play Vought's replacement. Since the TV series hasn't shown Vought bringing in a new Soldier Boy, season 4 could be the perfect opportunity and Padalecki would be an ideal candidate. Having him try to replicate a similar performance as Ackles after they played brothers on Supernatural would be hilarious, and there is no doubt he could do a fantastic job with the role.

Playing Soldier Boy Would Let Padalecki & Jensen Ackles Interact

Jensen Ackles Could Still Return To Interact With Jared Padalecki's Soldier Boy II

Since Amazon's The Boys doesn't directly follow the comics, Padalecki playing Soldier Boy II would still allow him to interact with Jensen Ackles. Although Soldier was defeated in season 3, he wasn't killed off, meaning Ackles' version of the character could still return. If Vought chose to replace him with Padalecki's version, this would offer the chance for them to come face-to-face and create a hilarious scene. Given Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy made a cameo in Gen V, his return in The Boys is certainly still on the cards and gives the duo a high chance of sharing the screen.

If Ackles' Soldier Boy does return, he'll most likely be out for revenge, and his first target could be his supposed replacement. Assuming Padalecki does take the mantle of Vought's new Soldier Boy, he may share some of the same cowardly characteristics as the comic version, making the duo's interaction even more comedic as Padalecki's character would have an entirely different personality. Regardless of how he portrays Soldier Boy, Padalecki's TV reunion with Ackles will undoubtedly have a different feel than their Supernatural relationship if he joins The Boys, making his potential casting all the more exciting.

Soldier Boy vs. Soldier Boy Would Pay Off Supernatural's Winchester Brother Fight Tease

The Boys Could Finally Provide The Fight That Supernatural Hinted At

After Supernatural teased a potential fight between the Winchester brothers, The Boys can finally deliver an alternative. Rather than Sam and Dean Winchester fighting, the original Soldier Boy could face off against the modern version in what would be an interesting clash. If Padalecki does play the more cowardly version of Soldier Boy, it may be a pretty one-sided battle, but if his version of the character is his true successor, it would make for a bloody scrap. Vought has the facilities to improve upon the original supe, and having two eras of Soldier Boys face-off would be entertaining.

Regardless of who wins, having Ackles and Padalecki finally have a big on-screen fight would be years in the making, and be a fun bit of nostalgia for Supernatural fans. Given the duo played two of Supernatural's leading characters, this fight would be a nice change of pace as they would be portraying two villains with opposing views. It may not be the showdown anyone would have expected the actors to have, but if Padalecki does decide to join The Boys, there is no doubt playing Soldier Boy could lead to a much-needed fight with his former Supernatural co-star.

The Boys season will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 13, 2024.
