As a student at Boston University (BU), I've found it to be an exhilarating and challenging place to study. Nestled in the heart of Boston, the campus buzzes with intellectual energy and cultural diversity. BU offers a wide array of programs across various fields, and the quality of education is top-notch, with access to accomplished faculty and cutting-edge facilities. The student body is incredibly diverse, bringing together perspectives from around the globe, which enriches the learning and social environment. Life here is never dull, with countless clubs, activities, and events to get involved in. Whether it's engaging in research projects, participating in student government, or just enjoying the city's historic sites, BU provides a robust and fulfilling college experience.
Boston University is a great school. Let me rephrase that- Boston University is a great school for the rich and connected. The various administrative offices reflect this. As an example, the financial aid office asked me why I was asking for a re-evaluation of my financial aid after my sister died. For the working class, my parents, a funeral is expensive - once I said this, I felt treated differently from that point on. BU prides itself on its diversity when bias is embedded into the entire institution. If this is what it is like for other groups (outside of economically fortunate and white), BU avoids diversity. Though the institution has various issues (see the current graduate worker and resident assistant strikes), the professors and instructors are phenomenal. I've never had an instructor that wasn't a great aid in my studies. Though I come from a low SES background, the professors here give me hope that I can succeed in the world of academia.
BU is a great school. That is hampered by the administration. I love the classes, the professors are great, and the city of Boston is a fantastic place, but I have had few successes with the BU administration. This is further exaggerated by the high cost to attend. It is reasonable to have some level of expectations with the high cost, yet the college can fall short at times. For example, Warren Towers, a dorm I housed in, has 4 escalators and I can count with my hands the number of days all 4 have worked at the same time.
