Interesting , but not outstanding , CD .

This CD has 25 tracks , the first 12 of which are attempts to imitate the British sound which was so successful in the U.S. in the mid '60s , while the final 13 tracks are described as " live " , though the applause definitely sounds dubbed ! The British-type tracks are better than the so-called " live " tracks. Bobby does very credible versions of the Beatles' hits , " She Loves You " and " From Me To You " , and I really like his Beatles sound-alike , " She's Sorry " , which is very difficult to find on either Vee compilations or various artists compilations. It has to be said that his versions of hits by Buddy Holly and Terry Stafford , on the first part of the CD , are unimpressive , but he does a great version of " You Can't Lie To A liar " ( a song which was a small U.S. hit for Ketty Lester in 1962 ) , and the last track on the first part of the CD , " Take A Walk , Johnny " , is an interesting and unusual song , well-performed by Vee. Moving on to the so-called " live " recordings , I found the dubbed applause intrusive and irritating , and in my opinion there is little to commend any of these tracks , including his rather mediocre version of Cliff Richard's " It'll Be Me ". Perhaps the best of these " live " tracks is " Everyday I Have To Cry " ( though it is inferior to Steve Alaimo's version ) , and his takes on " Hey Little Girl " ( the Dee Clark song , not Del Shannon ) and also Frankie Ford's " Sea Cruise " , aren't bad. In conclusion , my favourite tracks are " She's Sorry " and " You Can't Lie To A Liar " , and I would regard this CD as worth purchasing for the first 12 tracks including these two.
