Agnes' Obituary

Agnes C. Wackett, of Beaver Dam, WI passed away peacefully to the arms of the Lord surrounded by family on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam.

Agnes was born in Beaver Dam on October 18, 1930 to Joseph and Martha (Weigert) Schmid. She married Lester A. Wackett on July 29, 1947 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church; a loving marriage that lasted 68 years until Lester’s passing.

Agnes was first and foremost a nurturing mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She also worked as a bookkeeper for her brother at Schmid’s Cheese House and for her father’s Cheese company. Agnes’s family and faith were most important to her. She was an active member of the former St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam and a current member of Annunciation Catholic Parish in Fox Lake.

Agnes is survived by her brother, Richard Schmid, Beaver Dam; her children Linda Wackett, Pamela (Thomas) Flock, both of Beaver Dam, Lester F. (Judith) Wackett, Juneau and Daniel (Kathy) Wackett, Grand Marsh, WI; grandchildren Lesley Leusink, Kimberly (Lester) Bruch, Martha Flock, Brian Wackett, Brad (Tammy) Wackett and step-grandson Nicholas Berndt; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester A. Wackett in 2014, sisters Lillian (Lyle) Gossfeld, Marie (Budd) Wackett; brothers John (Elaine) Schmid, Alfred (Ivy) Schmid, Josie (Virginia) Schmid, Emil (Delores) Schmid, Ed (Faye) Schmid, cousin Werner (Ruth) Schmid, sister-in-law Phyllis Schmid and daughter-in-law Sharon Wackett.

At Agnes’s request, a private family service will be held at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services. If desired, memorials in Agnes’s name may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.

The family wishes to thank the exceptional staff at the Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam for their compassionate, loving care for mom the past three plus years.
