Robert Lowell Lang, the son of Clarence and Margret (Schwiesow) Lang, was born December 25, 1936 in Le Mars, Iowa.  He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1955.

Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.  Following the Korean War, he was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge.

He was united in marriage to Ramona “Moni” Renken on April 12, 1959 at Christ Lutheran Church in Le Mars.  Bob had many different job opportunities that led the family to live in California, Storm Lake, IA, Le Mars, Prescott Valley, Arizona, and finally moving back to Le Mars in 1976 after becoming disabled.

During those years he became a very good cook and baker.  His potato and macaroni salads were the best!  Moni’s circle ladies got to enjoy his many desserts.  Eventually he was able to get his arthritis under control and went to college. After graduating he began working for the City of Le Mars.  He worked as the Code Enforcement Officer until his retirement.  Following retirement, he worked part-time for the Water department.  He also delivered dry cleaning for Ideal Cleaners in Le Mars.

Bob was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars.  He was also a former member of the Lion’s Club.  He had the ability to visit with anyone and always appreciate their story.  He enjoyed having coffee and golfing with his buddies.  He was quick to crack a joke and give encouragement to those around him. His greatest joy was spending time with family, his grandchildren and getting to meet his great-grandchildren.  His love for Moni, was admired by many as he cared for her through her illness and until her passing on May 7, 2022.

Survivors include a son, Todd Robert (Kim) Lang of Le Mars, IA; a daughter, Kelli Marie (Kent) Monical of Scottsdale, AZ; six grandchildren and their families: Sean, Erica Schnettler, and Sonja Lang of Minnetonka, MN; Mitch and Chelsea Lang of Brookings, SD; Hannah, Kolby and Lincoln Kessenich of Des Moines, IA; Jade, Scott, Brooke, Riley, Lucas, and Olivia Colmyer of Mesa, AZ; Josh, Randi Zung, Nora and Reese Lubben of Rockville, MD; Jordan, Austin and Archie Davis of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters in law: Fran Renken of Sun City, AZ, Barb Renken of Bentonville, AK, Shirley (Estill) Lang of Le Mars, IA, Shirley (Norman) Lang of Prescott Valley, AZ, Gloria (Chris) Burkhardt of TX, and Debbie (Loren) Schroeder of CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
