Q&A
MJ was inspired by Bob Fosse, James Brown, Fred Astaire, and many more classic entertainers all rolled into a style that was uniquely his own. He followed his own advice by studying the greats and then became one of them.
Oh, definitely. I've seen some clips showing direct comparisons.
This absolutely inspired the dance and essence to Billie Jean IMO
This is a commonly known thing. Definitely true.
MJ never publicly spoke about being inspired by Fosse (to my knowledge anyway), but the similarities are clear here.
What? MJ always called Fosse his hero and his dancing inspiration.
Aw I’m glad!
I knew he called Astaire one of his heroes, along with James Brown and Jackie Wilson, just never saw anything from him about Fosse
One of my favorite movies. It just feels like a dream. Growing up, I even thought it never existed and it was just memories of a weird dream.
This blew my mind when I first saw it. It's definitely his inspiration. MJ would have been 16 when this came out.
Interesting! :-) With all due respect to Mr. Fosse, I do think MJ perfected the moves and had better body control.
I heard that Bob Fosse was also influenced by Fred Astaire, which is an awesome coincidence.
I get Speed Demon vibes here
Mike bit that whole style....
Wow. Interesting.
Yeah OP I’m not taking away anything from you but I’ve posted this clip numerous times in the past in regards to it influencing MJ.
I still enjoy watching this video though every time it’s posted!
No worries, I’m still quite new to the group. I should’ve done a search 😅
All the shit stolen from this niggas, I don’t care… Take it back Mike.
When he’s by the tree branch it reminds me of the Keep It in the Closet video
