Subreddit for the Netflix animated series, BoJack Horseman, starring BoJack Horseman as BoJack Horseman.
I know he’s a stupid piece of shit, but…
In this scene, the only one where we see Bojack cry in the whole series, I just want to give him a hug. I’ve watched this show 200x through, and this part always breaks me a little.
I can hear Beatrice’s voice every time “don’t you ever cry”
damn I just realized this is the only time he cries in the show but ur right I can’t think of another time
He 100% cries a lot off screen
You really think so?? I was thinking the absolute opposite. I feel like this is one of the very few times he cries, on OR off screen. I think it's very hard for bojack to cry. He bottles everything in, or gets angry.
I think this the only time when we really see him actually cry, in that it is played seriously and not for laughs.
We see him wailing over Stamos and a photo of him bawling after he dropped his ice cream with Sarah Lynn, but I think this is the only time we actually see him really cry or at least with visible tears.
yeah, the only time I can think of him talking about it is him crying as a baby/child, or when he says "I'm gonna go take a shower so I can't tell if I'm crying or not". he's definitely the type to bottle everything in, and won't even let himself admit to crying.
Yeah, I'd think his the way his parents treated him would probably make him the kind who doesn't cry very often.
I don't know if his parents have a direct influence in this, trust me I've been depressed like Bojack and I rarely cried, I just felt too sad to bother crying. But once, I broke down like Bojack. Rough days...
I assume he does after.sex.a lot
Nah he's just bad at it. He never seems to have hangups like that, if anything he likes casually banging random people way too much.
He definitely has atrachment and intimacy problems, but I think he just accepts the pattern of women leaving him whenever he gets random girls to come back to his house. Like, that's all he really seems interested in before Wanda, and even then...
🔥🔥🤚 "Nothing on the inside, nothing on the outside."
Who says that quote?
Name another time other then john stamos no or as a kid cuz those don’t rly count
Probably a lot off screen
I just realized you said off screen not on screen
With flaws and all, he turned out a more compassionate and kinder person than the couple of monsters that raised him. I have faith that he'll be fine after the ending.
He was kind enough not to have kids too
I dont believe that "you're born an asshole, it's in your blood" crap. If bojack truly got better, then had kids, those kids would probably grow up to be wonderful. If he DOESNT get better, then has kids, THEN he'd keep passing on that depression and shit.
I think it was partly genetic. Honey's complete and utter breakdown after her son's death suggests that mental illness ran in Bojack's maternal line. Beatrice and BoJack were probably more subscribe to mental health problems...which the environments they were raised in completely ignited.
Imo Honey more went down that path due to lack of support, especially from her husband. Of course there may have been some genetic factor, but Joseph wasn’t particularly shown to be in tune with Honey’s feelings, especially considering he was willing to lobotomise her after one large breakdown.
She had to deal with the death of her son (who we know she was obviously very close to), which would be traumatic, so her breakdown wouldn’t be unrealistic if she hadn’t had the chance to talk about it.
Yeah that episode with the seahorses broke me. For a while he finds happiness in raising the kid, for a fleeting moment he escapes from reality and take good care of the child.
But he has to leave it, and in the end, down the line he realizes he will never have it again.
It is like you never know you will be happy, and for a while you experience happiness in a very unexpected way only to know that you will never have that again.
What are you talking about? He was crying on PC’s lawn when John stamos died
😭😭Staaaaaammoooooosssss
"That is not John Stamos!"
Yeah, but in this scene, his crying was more genuine and reasonable.
Emphasis on "genuine"
Wasn't he drunker than a fish? It was less crying and more...pathetic stupor. He also didn't shed any tears then.
That wasn't her lawn
And that was not his ear!
Not really tho, no tears. I know you're probably just joking around 😂😂 but I'm gonna be literal bill and correct you anyway.
Even after everything he does, I really just want to give him a big hug.
This show has a way of making me hate him one second and then feel incredibly sorry for him the next. Which is probably the point.
Agreed.
The creator said "I don't know if he deserves to be happy"...maybe he does and maybe he doesn't, but watching the show it's very difficult for me to not want that for him.
But didn’t Raphael Bob-Waksburg also say that part of his philosophy in writing the show was that he believed everyone deserved to be happy and to be forgiven(obv if they do the neccesary work and take responsibility for themselves)?
Come to think of it, I believe he wouldn’t have turned out as bad or done half the terrible things he’s done if he had only learned to let it out. Sometimes all people need is a real good cry to get back on track
Beatrice and Butterscotch ruined his ability to have a healthy cry. Butterscotch was the embodiment of toxic masculinity and Bea: "Don't you dare cry. Don't you ever cry."
Which episode was this?
Season 2, the Shot. Can't remeber episode number
It was right after Kelsey and Bojack broke into the Nixon museum to film the shot they both wanted.
After they finish, Bojack goes out to smoke and breaks down.
I get it.
Saved for a few episodes, the rock opera scam and the 17 minutes retcon especially, I usually want the best for Bojack.
Not me finding this post as I’m watching this episode 😭
I personally felt sorry for him when he was worried about hollyhock and her being drugged. Well also..he had a shit childhood too so that is sad.
this is a beautiful moment every time I watch but seeing it just as a still here brings attention to the watercolor of bojack’s fur WAY more than I’ve noticed before. Wow, something about the paint is just… extra heartbreaking for this moment, somehow??
Broooo broke me
Yes this scene was very painful for me. Especially how he played it off all cool inside the fake White House. And then when nobody sees him he cries. It’s very easy to relate to that. I have been in that situation
bojangles :(
I fucking love bojack and can't ever hate him because of all his trauma and his family having terrible trauma aswell it just makes me think "wow. I feel bad for that guy" Although I relate SO MUCH to him 😭
Why the disclaimer?....
Do yall honestly watch the show hating the main character?
Or you think that the point of the show is for us to hate him, what are you on about
“Stupid piece of shit” is the name of one of the more popular episodes later in the series. He refers to himself as a stupid piece of shit the entire episode. I was referencing the show with the title.
Οh okay, understood.
You know what else would be funny? If I ripped that red rug right off his head and turned him into Ron Howard
??
