Quintessential 60's white boy British blues by one of the best blues rock band exponents in the game. Chris Youlden's yearning vocals top off this excellent classic. Produced by Mike Vernon and largely seen as the band's classic line-up - guitarist Kim Simonds, drummer Roger Earl, rhythm guitarist/singer Lonesome Dave Peverett, bassist Tone Stevens, and singer Chris Youlden - one of the finest British blues voices - check out his "Nowhere Road" and "City Child" albums and the tracks Train to Nowhere and Don't Turn Me From Your Door on Blue Matter.
Excellent gritty blues rock.- Unless I'm mistaken (would love to learn if I am) this LP marks Chris Youlden's exit from the Savoy Brown recordings.
Kit and the band are strong, confident players and I do enjoy Lonesome Dave's clear and committed performance on the live Side B
...but the soft, warm and deep tones that Chris delivered (yes, with the big 'nasally' quality resonance), they are what really make the band special for me. referencing Blue Matter (LP, Album, BW) PAS-71027
my copy have the LONDON on side A in regular capital letters and on the B side, written with the same Typology of the LONDON logo. couldn´t find this variation here.- The album is not as psychedelic as the sleeve cover. The only tune that really stands out as different is Train to Nowhere. Having heard this prior to obtaining a copy of the album, I was expecting something a little more Creamesque, but found that the music had a greater resemblance to Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac or John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (especially May be Wrong). The quality is similar too so if that's what you're after you won't be disappointed.
