About
One of Iceland’s must-dos, the geothermal Blue Lagoon is famous for its ethereal milky-blue waters. Remaining at 102 degrees fahrenheit all year round, the waters are rich in silica and minerals. Soak in the lagoon, slather on a silica mud mask and enjoy the complimentary drink at the swim-up bar. Choose from the basic ‘Comfort’ package, the ‘Premium’ package or the ‘Luxury: Retreat Spa’ package that includes five hours at the spa. Make the Blue Lagoon your first or last stop from the airport, or combine it with a tour that includes Kerid Volcanic Crater and the Golden Circle. – Tripadvisor

    Perfect Experience!
Amazing experience! We opted for Premium which gives robes, a drink and 3 face masks. It was relatively quiet as we arrived off season and in the morning although stayed until early afternoon and was still not crowded. Lovely, unique experience.

    Great relaxation
The blue lagoon was a great experience. We went to the lagoon straight from Keflavik and it was so relaxing. The water is not deep, so you are able to walk around in the water. We had the comfort package which included a drink and a facemask. The lemonade was great! There were a lot of visitors with cameras and phones, but the lagoon has a lot of hidden nooks where you can escape the crowds.

Great way to relax at the end of the day!
We loved our visit to the Blue Lagoon. Just the drive to it through the lava fields is incredible. Very organised set up. The silica face mask was lovely and a drink from the swim up bar was great too. Lovely shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and products to use afterwards. Only negative really is the lack of shower facilities; these could be larger given the number of visitors. Other than that we thought it was great. Not sure a visit to Iceland would be complete without a visit to the Blue Lagoon.

    So relaxing...
Arrived as part of a pre-booked trip round the Golden Circle. The changing facilities were clean & well maintained. The pool was incredible, you could float easily & enjoy the flow as well as different temperature pockets. We had a mineral facemask as part of the package. Not only was it very relaxing, but also my skin felt incredible.

Great & Relaxing experience / Friendly Greeter
The visit to the Blue Lagoon was our second visit at a geothermal hot spring (the first one being the Secret Lagoon further inland). The facilities at the Blue Lagoon are very nice, although a bit crowded at times. However, once you are in the water this is soon forgotton and you just soak and relax. What made this visit a particularly pleasant experience was the interactions with our greeter Daniel, he took the time to chat with us about his experiences in Iceland and patiently took our pictures and answered our questions

Blue Lagoon On a Rainy Day = Cheerful Day
We (2Adults, 2 Teens) came at 8:00am, and it was perfect! We spent about 2 hours here, then after blow-drying, etc…we headed to Reykjavik. We had the cheapest bundle, which includes a towel, a mud mask, and a drink. The Water was a more milky blue than Myvatn Nature Bath & has Salt water in it. We could see why it was double the price from Myvatn, and can say that it was worth visiting both; it was rainy when we visited the Blue Lagoon, so it made the morning more cheerful. The lagoon also had everything spaced out, so mud masks are at one end & Drinks at another. If you are a DJH member, you can book through Hostelling International’s GetYourGuide for a discount. Free parking was onsite & beautiful views of the milky blue waters are outside. Enjoy!

    Totally fun time was had.
Tourist trap? Yes! Overpriced? Maybe. Total blast of a good time? Absolutely! My family and I had a great time here. My experience was the check-in was easy. The amenities were fine. The time in the pool was fabulous. I believe this place is all about timing. Watch the flow with the crowd and you wait less in line for your drinks and for your masks. At times they were long lines and other times there was no one. It usually corresponds to the top of the hour at the different entry times. Also, people tend to gravitate to the same areas. Explore the whole lagoon and you’ll find little spots of serenity. There’s no pressure on you to leave, stay as long as you like. I thought the premium package was not very valuable. Bring your own robe and slides. the best part about it was the three masks. Everyone in my family considers this one of the highlights of our two week European vacation.

Magical blue lagoon and gourmet lunch at “ lava “ restaurant
Absolute must see and magical experience of the famous geothermal man made lagoon . It’s the after effect of a geothermal power plant that is well worth the visit . We rented a car and drove there from rejkjavik ourselves which is about 45 minutes . Tip: don’t speed on the roads they are well patrolled . It is very cold and windy there usually as it is on a peninsula in the North Atlantic so don’t let the weather in Rejkjavik fool you it can be very different . Tip : admission to the area and cafe complex are free so unless you want to swim in the lagoon you don’t have to pay or stand in line . Tip : reserve a magical lunch at the beautiful “ lava “ restaurant overlooking the lagoon . They serve the best bread and butter with some type of rock salt that is not to be missed . 10 out of 10 experience .

    Must do the Blue Lagoon
We rounded of our trip at the Blue Lagoon, and it did not disappoint. What a fabulous way to relax at the end of a busy tour of Iceland. This geo-thermal spa is special and the biggest compliment we can give it as a family is that no one wanted to get out !

A one-of-kind experience. Very fun but very crowded.
This is a must see/do in Iceland. Only about 20 minutes from the Keflavik airport and about 30 minutes from Reykjavík, it’s easy to get to. By rental car, it’s easy to find, and there’s plenty of free parking. You can also take a taxi or bus, It is very crowded and touristy (the only such place we encountered in Iceland), but the facilities are very nice and it is truly a fun and unique experience. When you arrive, you get an electronic bracelet, which gives you access to a locker, a free drink, and allows you to charge other drinks during your visit. You are first directed to the locker room where you can change and store your things in a private locker. You can then head out to the lagoon, which is like a giant heated pool, where you can relax, get a drink at the swim up bar, or choose from a variety of mud facials at the swim up mask bar. 1 to 2 hours in the water is plenty, then you can enjoy a meal at the casual café or the nicer dine in restaurant. It truly is a memorable, one-of-a-kind experience and well worth doing, but be prepared for the crowds.

We had read a lot about Iceland's Blue Lagoon and were tossing up whether the considerable expense of a visit was worth it to experience Iceland's most iconic hot springs. For us it we have decided it probably was. We used Lagoon's own "Destination Blue Lagoon" coach for our transfers and this worked well, but was a rather drawn out business with pick-up near our accommodation at 5:30pm for our timed entrance to the Blue Lagoon about 7:00pm. On arrival there was about a 20min wait in the queue to be provided with our necessary wristbands for our 'Comfort' package and we were given instructions on lockers and pre-showering. I had forgotten to bring the much recommended hair conditioner, but this, as well as body wash and shampoo, was thankfully provided. Shower and locker facilities were good and well organised and hair dryers were also provided. We were able to take cameras into the pool area then return them to our lockers for safe keeping before continuing to enjoy the pool and this worked OK for photos. As we arrived in the early evening we were able to see the Lagoon in the twilight as well as enjoy lying in the warm water looking up at the stars later on (sadly no Northern Lights that night). The pool is huge, of varying depth (although not above the chest) and with hotter and slightly cooler pockets. The contrast of the expanse of gently floodlit, blue water, the black surrounding lava stones and the snowy mountain backdrop was pretty memorable and unique. Staff were helpful and polite and there seemed to be many stationed at the water's edge to make sure no one got into any difficulty in the water, especially as the lights grew dimmer late in the evening. We enjoyed our complimentary glass of wine at the wade up bar and probably spent a couple of very relaxing hours in total at the Lagoon. The trip back to Reyjkavik also worked fairly well but, with only one bus departing per hour we did have to wait a while.

We went here on our first day, upon landing. We landed at 11.30am and booked the next available transfer to the lagoon, which was the 1pm slot.
We used Destination Blue Lagoon which we booked directly through the Blue lagoon website, reason being this was the only place that had a daytime slot and we wanted to visit during the daylight.

The bus picked us up on time at 1pm from the airport and took 20 minutes to get to the lagoon. The ticket allows you one hour to enter so even though we booked a 1pm slot and the bus didn’t get us there till 1.20pm we could still enter. We left at 4.15pm again via destination blue lagoon, drop off at the main bus terminal and then transfer on to our hotel. Once we got to the main bus terminal the transfer to the hotel was a little unorganised, there was no bus for us but they quickly sorted this.
We spent 3 hours at the lagoon and was a good amount of time. We stored our luggage for a small fee.

We booked the comfort ticket which included a towel, drink and mask. We also got to go to a queue with no wait time when we got there. The group tour queue was huge. Another perk booking directly through the website id say. In total the tickets including transport cost us about £250 but it was worth it.

The experience was great. It seemed busy but once you got into the lagoon there was loads of space. We got lockers easily, plenty of towels were available. Hairdryers and showers were all there too. There is a little cafe and restaurant. The strawberry wine and beer were lovely. This was my number 1 experience in Iceland.

Valentine visit that turned into a nightmare !
We visited on the 13th of February 2020 the exact day that cyclone Dennis arrived.
We pre-booked the visit including the transfers which came to a cost of £150.
I know they can’t help the weather but the lagoon should’ve been closed ( I believe it was close the day after ) the snow blizzard was horizontal and we couldn’t even get out of the indoor cave bit of the lagoon. The lifeguards could noway see anybody in the lagoon!
We weren’t in there five minutes ,we never use any of the facemask ,or had the drink As the bar was on on the other side of the lagoon. We left on the next bus out of there(Leaving a lot of people stranded because the bus was full)
The place itself was beautiful and we would all love to stay there longer had the lagoon being closed we could’ve at least tried to go another day.

This really is a very special place and a 'must do' if you are visiting Iceland. We chose to go to the lagoon at night to add to the atmosphere and were then very pleased to find out that it was half price! There happened to be a severe blizzard on the night we went but everything still ran like clockwork (including the Destination Blue Lagoon transfer that we had booked from Reykjavic). We booked this directly from the blue lagoon website, there really is no need to pay another operator to carry out this trip for you.
The lagoon itself is exceptionally well organised. You are given an electronic wristband for your time there which operates your locker as well as enabling you to buy drinks in the lagoon bar, you then pay the balance off on exiting the lagoon. A great idea!
The changing rooms are spacious and very clean with shower cubicles to use after you leave the lagoon. It has more of a spa feel than a public swimming pool with ample towels provided. The lagoon itself is huge and so even though there are a lot of people there, it didn't feel busy. All in all a great experience!

Our visit to the Blue Lagoon was booked for early evening on an already dark January day.
As we arrived the sleet began and we wound our way down a path to the main building. Have Ing bought fast track VIO tickets we were issued with a fluffy robe, flip flood and a swatch watch type contraption which has been swiped with our credit card so we could make purchases within the lagoon.

The changing rooms were wonderfully designed in that they were sectioned into smaller, intimate areas divided separately for male and females . Our wristband appliance was used to lock individual lockers ( leave all jewellery in your hotel as the silica in the lagoon will tarnish it !)

Padded to the shower area which provided shower gel and more importantly hair conditioner. I recommend you apply gallons to your hair as silica will adhere to each strand and cause your hair to become enormous and tangled for days !!

Hung up our robes in a meeting area and waddled down a slope i to the lagoon through saloon type swing doors. The water was heavenly warm and it was an incredible experience since it was both dark and sleeting outside .

Our VIP pass entitled us to a free drink of choice at one of the lagoon pool bars and further drinks ( we had Prosecco but there was a vast selection plus soft drinks too) We slapped on a face full of exfoiliating face mask ( later we swapped to a moisturising one )

It was wonderful to float around in the very warm water , quite surreal in the dark. The lagoon covered quite a large area and did not feel overcrowded. Some people sat or sheltered behind large rocks to avoid the snowflakes !

We enjoyed the waters for easily 90 minutes then came out to enjoy a hot shower and shampoo out the hair conditioner ( our hair was perfectly fine afterwards) Quality hairdryers were in abundance in the changing room areas, along with wonderfully lit mirrors and dressing table area.

We then went on to enjoy a beautiful four course dinner in the dining room . The menu was fantastic as was the selection of wines and the staff were extremely efficient and knowledgable.

We enjoyed a most memorable trip to the Blue Lagoon and were not disappointed by a Winter visit. Infact, I would say it was all the more magical because of the cold and dark. We loved every second !

We did this on the way to our hotel after the flight. I would recommend doing it either on the way to your hotel or on the way to the airport if you can. It’s about half way between Reykjavik centre and Keflavik airport. Your transfers can be arranged around it really easily! You can put your bags away for as little as £3/4. You then have lockers for your day bags upstairs in the changing rooms.

You can occasionally get in early and there are a number of bus times to take to get there.
The cafe isn’t too expensive and you can view the lagoon from indoors or outside.

Changing areas are open. Be prepared to see naked people! There is one little changing cubicle, you might need to queue if you want to use it.
You don’t need flip flops etc but you can buy/rent them if you find you want them last minute.
There’s a door straight out to the open (very cold start) or a slope down into the water inside the main building and then open the door directly into the lagoon.

In the lagoon the floor is relatively flat. Some parts are a little gravely and some parts have clays. Like the masks they give you included in the comfort package.

It’s so warm but full of silica and can react badly with your hair. They provide a ton of conditioner and make you shower before you get in. Use plenty of conditioner and stick your hair up. Feel free to dunk in if you want to chance it. Loads of people do. The drinks are YUM!
Everything’s done on a little blue plastic bracelet you settle up at the end.

Get a waterproof phone or camera cover, you won’t regret it!
And try and have some time after to walk around the ground. It’s stunning

We nearly didn’t do this as it is costly especially when you have to factor in the cost of transport would suggest trying to fit in as part of your airport transfer if you can. Look at the Blue Lagoon website for these options.

Once there it is a really great experience. Much more like a spa than a pool. Kept clean and tidy and not too overcrowded. We booked in for 3pm as the lunchtime slots were full. Once there you are not restricted as to how long you can stay. If booked in a specific return bus they said we could change it as long as we did so at reception before getting in the return bus. In any event we didn’t need it as we were booked in the 6.15 bus which allowed a good time in the lagoon without rushing.

Changing rooms were clean and spacious. A shower before entry is mandatory Shower gel and conditioner is provided and fir those with long hair it is recommended to leave the conditioner in your hair as the silica in the pool will make your hair very stiff.

Lockers are included and the large ones with accommodate hand luggage. For those with large cases storage is available at the entrance from the car park/ bus stop.

You can enter the lagoon from within the building or if feeling brave go outside and enter down the slope.

Once in it’s lovely and warm with parts of the pool warmer than others so you can choose your spot.

In the comfort package (lowest price) it includes one silica face mask (you could probably go back several times but not really necessary or good for you)!and one drink - anything from the swim up bar - a good selection of drinks beer, wine smoothies etc. Plastic glasses for obvious reasons. Additional drinks available fir purchase in your wristband that you settle on departure. They also sell plastic camera bags if you need one. Most people were just careful not to drop their phones.

It is a genuinely uniques experience with the steam rising and surrounded by lava rock edges to the lagoon it felt like a different world. Very peaceful and relaxing.

A couple of hours in the nagging was enough for us before getting too wrinkly!!

A quick shower and the back in the bus which departs at 15 past the hour. We felt relaxed and refreshed.

Recommend this activity fir something entirely different.

We visited the Blue Lagoon on our final night in Iceland. We hadn't intended to visit as we'd already been to the Secret Lagoon and had been told by a number of people that the Blue Lagoon was overpriced and overpopulated. However, we had a bit of a bad afternoon on our final day and my husband wanted to cheer me up! So booked the evening session (we went at 8pm but I believe the evening sessions start at 7pm) and I'm so glad we did. Apart from the obvious different in price when you visit in the evening, the place was practically deserted! There were no queues to get in and we spent a couple of hours in the pool and the only place we encountered a few other people were at the mask bar and at the drinks bar. Otherwise it felt like we had it to ourselves. It also means you get to see the lagoon both during the last hours of daylight, and in the dark - which made for a really memorable experience.

A totally different experience to the Secret Lagoon, which I also loved but for very different reasons. If you can only visit during the day then I'd recommend the Secret Lagoon over the Blue Lagoon, however, if you can visit during the evening (or you're lucky enough to visit both) then I would highly recommend the evening session at the Blue Lagoon.

If anyone is thinking of visiting the Blue Lagoon please think twice before parting with your hard earned money. The place is highly overrated and highly overpriced. The novelty wears off in 20 mins. They have designed the complex so that people have no choice but to leave quickly after a quick dip. There is no place for families with young children to take a rest in between swimming. They have a relaxation area that has only 14 loungers which is hardly enough space when there are hundreds of people visiting. They do have a huge Restaurant but it would have cost over £140 for the cheapest 4 main course dishes. They have a very small cafe in the wet area with 4-5 tables and a panini cost £16 and was awful. We paid over £60 for 3 paninis, a salad and a coffee. This was the most expensive snack we’ve had in the whole of Iceland over the 5 days we were there. I know Iceland is expensive but the food wasn’t even nice! They have a much bigger seating area cafe but it’s after you’ve dressed and paid. Or you can eat there but must have a bath robe which costs 1400 ISK to rent!! Ladies with thick long hair be careful! It totally ruined my hair. Can’t put a comb through it even after applying their recommendation to put conditioner in your hair before entering the water. In conclusion it’s better and cheaper if not free in some places to go to the general thermal baths near Reykjavik and the surrounding areas. I complained to the manger about the facilities and all I got was a nod and email address to write too. A complete waste of money and a days holiday!

We booked the trip before we travelled and found it was cheaper to book direct with Blue Lagoon rather than the tour companies. You can only pre-book, not just turn up on the day so it never gets too busy. It is very organised, you are given an electronic wristband which gets you a locker, entry, free drinks and anything you want to buy additionally is done through the wristband. As you leave, you scan the band and pay anything extra you have had. The pool itself is astounding. It is huge, shallow enough to walk in, deep enough to swim in, nearly as hot as bathwater and salty. You are given a free facemask to apply and there are water fountains to drink from and staff around to help you. They provide free shampoo and conditioner (use plenty of conditioner or your hair ends up like straw) and towels. We would probably still be in there now if a snowstorm hadn`t made us get out!
