The best part of John Carroll is the community aspect of it because I have met my best friends here. The faculty and staff are amazing and push you everyday to be better and make the grades and if you struggle they have tutors or teachers that offer help.
Overall the quality of teachers and administrators is not impressive. There is a huge lack in the area of service programs and clubs. Many of the students are children of multigenerational alumni, so it can be very cliquey, and often is responsible for keeping the school from improving, growing and changing. I think at one point John Carroll was a good school, but it is now a shell of what it once was. This is most obvious in the school administration turnover.
John Carroll Catholic High School has been very impactful on the development of myself. I was given opportunities to strengthen my faith through weekly mass, retreats, and monthly chapel visits. The smallness of the school allows for the students to connect on a deeper level. The teachers have been nothing but nice and supportive of all of the students. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend John Carroll and all of the blessings it has out into my life. One thing I would like to see change is the maintenance. There is only one or two people taking care of the school and the maintenance, and they are getting old.
The people at John Carroll High School were quite welcoming when I transferred there during my junior year. Another great experience I had is the teachers prepared me for college. The work was more challenging, which is the worst part. To improve my grades, I had to find new techniques to study. To ensure that we all get high marks on the test, my classmates were really helpful and created quizlets for the entire class. I wish the lecturers had provided a study guide that would have better prepared me for the exam.
I transferred my junior year. I enjoyed my experience. The environment is friendly and diverse. Great education.
Not the most welcoming. Tried to gain more information via personal visit yet met with rude and unprofessional behavior by administrative staff. If the staff is a reflection of the school persona, I can not imagine the daily environment students endure.
John Carroll Is the best high school in Birmingham! This school academically challenged the students , plus great staff on hand.
I loved John Carroll since the day I got there. The environment and staff were amazing. The school culture is completely different from other schools. The feeling of acceptance by teachers and students were as of family. The amount extracurricular activities the school offered were plenty. The alumni were always so generous to the school. John Carroll gave a sense of family. As if it were more than a school. I wouldn’t change anything about John Carroll Catholic
John Caroll was one of the best four years of my life. You met a lot of different people, and you experienced new things like in Mr. Cashio's World Religions class when we made different types of food from different cultures. I will forever remember John Carroll and the memories made there.
John Carroll Catholic High School is a great school. It gives the student one of the best educations in Alabama. One thing that I wish could be change is the cost of the tuition. It is not a cheap school, however you get what you pay for, a great education.
couldn't be more thank full and hapy to be able to graduate from this school. i have been given so many opportunities from here and made friends that I will never forget.
I had a pretty good experience at John Carroll. I have attended high school for all four years of high school. The teachers have been super helpful and the coaches are amazing. It is a great place for kids to come to learn to only in education, but physically and spiritually.
I think that the chapel is a great place to go when you need some time to think or are in a hard place.
Great Private School!!! I love it soo much and hope you will enjoy it to!!! Its a bit advanced but a little learning and help from the nice teacher wont hurt.
John Carroll is a private, Catholic that centers academics and extracurriculars around faith and morals. The pillars that John Carroll bases their morals and try to reflect are Catholic, Scholarly, Innovative and Loving.
John Carroll has given me amazing opportunities to shine and lead others and I'm so thankful for that. There have been times I've been disappointed in the school - racist remarks from administration and failure to discipline correctly. Overall, they have amazing teachers that go above and beyond the job description.
They need to add more extracurriculars but it is a good community to be around! You really do feel at home when you are there and you can pray.
John Carroll Catholic High School does their best to improve feelings of inclusivity, however, the majority of their attempts fall short. I feel as though their academic programs are strong, but they favor relationships with teachers over what is best for the students. The education offered is often mixed with religious teachings (something to expect from a religious school) but on occasion, this can interrupt the academic point of view. Aside from these things, the school is good.
I like that it is diverse and most of the students are nice. Some of the teachers will help you after school and before school if you need help.
John Carroll is a good school. You get a good education and you are surrounded by the Catholic faith.
