Bijou Phillips breaks silence on life after Danny Masterson rape conviction, divorce

Bijou Phillips is leaving her marriage to convicted rapist Danny Masterson behind.

Phillips, 43, made a rare appearance Sunday at a Grammys 2024 viewing party days after Masterson was transferred to a California prison that once housed Charles Manson.

When asked by E! News about her well-being at a Janie’s Fund charity event, the “Almost Famous” star replied, “I’m doing good,” adding that she and Masterson’s 9-year-old daughter, Fianna, are a “great little team.”

Her unexpected appearance comes less than a month after it was reported that Phillips had left the Church of Scientology, which reportedly expelled Masterson, 47, after he was sentenced to 30 years in prison last fall for raping two women.

“Bijou left a few weeks after she found out that Danny had been declared an SP [suppressive person] for not living up to the standards of the church,” an insider with close ties to former Scientology members told the Daily Mail.

“It’s never an easy decision to leave Scientology because you face being ripped apart from your family and friends who are still members,” the source added, noting that Phillips “had nothing to lose” since most of her loved ones are not Scientologists.

Phillips stuck by Masterson’s side through his rape trials and even during his sentencing before she filed for divorce in mid-September, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The former couple met in 2004, got engaged in 2009 and married in October 2011.

Phillips requested full custody of Fianna but will allow her to visit the “That ’70s Show” star behind bars.

Last week, a judge denied Masterson’s request for bail, claiming he was a flight risk because he has “no wife to go home to.”

“Danny is an amazing father,” Phillips wrote in a character letter during his trials. “Our daughter and I are heartbroken that he is not home with us. It has been very difficult without him here. Even though he is now in jail, he calls her every day. He helps her with homework every night.”

In December, Phillips shared photos on social media of her on “the most needed vacation ever” in Nassau, Bahamas.
