Beverly Hills Cop 4: Axel F (2024) - Cast, Images - Parade Skip to main content

Eddie Murphy is finally returning to Beverly Hills! Or perhaps more accurately, Axel Foley, the character Murphy played in the hit Beverly Hills Cop franchise, is returning to Beverly Hills. Beverly Hills Cop, a movie about a Black detective from Detroit traveling to Los Angeles to investigate the death of a friend, became an instant hit when it arrived in theaters in 1984. The movie skyrocketed Murphy to fame, created a million quotable lines and went on to spawn two sequels, Beverly Hills Cop II in 1987 and Beverly Hills Cop III in 1994. With diminishing box office returns and plummeting reviews from critics, however, the series fell into development hell in the 90s, with many assuming we'd seen the last of Axel Foley.

Now, nearly 30 years after Beverly Hills Cop III and 40 years after the original, Eddie Murphy has put the Detroit Lions jacket back on, and Axel Foley once again finds himself in Beverly Hills to investigate a case. In late 2023, Netflix released the first image from Beverly Hills Cop IV, now titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, which will be released in 2024. Here's everything we know about the fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie:
