Michael V He's been chased, thrown through a window and arrested. Eddie Murphy is a Detroit cop on vacation in Beverly Hills. Beverly Hills Cop is a 1984 American buddy cop action comedy film directed by Martin Brest 👮 Meh, it passed the time. Just. 😐 👍🏼👎🏼 This is almost more about the soundtrack than the movie itself… Fast-talking, quick-thinking Detroit street cop Axel Foley has bent more than a few rules and regs in his time, but when his best friend is murdered, he heads to sunny Beverly Hills to work the case like only he can. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Mary J Despite being a very typical 80s cop film, this movie is just plain fun! Eddie holds your attention effortlessly and makes the movie an easy and enjoyable watch. The supporting characters are just as intriguing. The upbeat music of the time fits perfectly. No wonder they made 2 more... 3 soon? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/05/24 Full Review Alex L Classic cult comedy with solid performances. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Leandro T a phenomenal Eddie murphy comedy. Must see, so absolutely fresh Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review Ryan N This is my favorite Eddie Murphy movie of all time. Saw it in the 80s when I was a kid and still enjoy it today. I used to watch Eddie Murphy on SNL and when this came out on video, I wanted to see it. I loved it. I then became an official Murphy fan. The comedy is hilarious along with the story and action. I loved how he pranked the detectives at first then became their buddies to solve a murder. The second was just as great as the first one. I won't talk about the 3rd. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Christian K This has to have the GOAT score/soundtrack for silly cop action movie, Axel has a Mega Man ass theme song that is awesome. Eddie is awesome in this but I would argue it is somehow not nearly silly enough. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Wendy Ide Times (UK) Much of the film’s appeal stems from the sizzling energy and sharp dialogue, a lot of which was improvised on the spot by Murphy. Nov 20, 2023 Full Review Kirk Ellis Hollywood Reporter This lickety-split action comedy is distinguished by the wry, character-conscious direction of Martin Brest, who coaxes a silver-bullet performance from star Eddie Murphy that's practically criminal in its accuracy. Dec 5, 2016 Full Review Chris Nashawaty Entertainment Weekly Rated: B May 12, 2011 Full Review Wayne Broadway Black Girl Nerds 'Beverly Hills Cop' works as an action movie supported by Eddie Murphys comedic timing and inexhaustible charisma. Reinholds goofy but endearing Det. Rosewood also provides heart and hearty laughs. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 1, 2022 Full Review Kevin Carr Fat Guys at the Movies It's a good detective story. It's got a great bad guy. It's got a motivated hero... it's a fun movie that moves... and doesn't stop. Rated: 4/4 May 1, 2021 Full Review Allison Rose FlickDirect Murphy is a one-man show backed up by his supporting cast - especially Reinhold and Ashton - who allow Murphy the freedom to do what he does best.
