Beverly High School Reviews
Rating 3.93 out of 5 170 reviews
During my time in high school, I observed a particular group of students who seemed to dominate the school environment and make many people feel uncomfortable. I noticed that these individuals would often spend their time in the bathrooms instead of attending classes. These students were a part of the Ladders Program, where they would receive rewards for completing even a single piece of work. As a result, teachers would often leave their classes to provide these students with food from places such as Panera, McDonald's, and Dairy Queen. I know that other people agree with me that these students "rule the school." I am hoping for a change in the ladders program because of how deeply this impacted me. I didn't feel like I could use the bathroom at school without getting made fun of or harassed when i needed to wash my hands, because they were constantly taking up all the space in the bathroom.
My experience at Beverly High has been excellent. Through virtual, hybrid, and online styles the teachers and faculty have been committed and supportive. My only critiques are that the student community can be cliquey, sports teams stressfully competitive, and the school poorly advertises its resources. I have strong self-advocacy skills but I’ve heard from those who don’t that resources are not readily available or advertised. Excluding this I’ve found Beverly to be a very welcoming and success-building environment with amazing teachers.
Beverly High School is a diverse high school with many academic, voluntary & recreational opportunities for students in 9th-12th grade and beyond. I have learned a great deal about myself and what I would like to do in the future with the help of my professors and guidance counselor. BHS has also promoted friendship connections, volunteer opportunities with special needs students & senior citizens and extracurricular activities such as sports & drama.
The only negative aspect of BHS I would say is the bullying that I have seen. Some students do not treat other students kindly or with respect. I do my best to support the students that do get bullied and participate in activities that promote kindness and compassion for others.
