Edited 3 months agoWhile perhaps not as solid as Backwoods Barbie, Better Day is still a great contemporary Dolly album. Notably, this was the first album fully composed by Dolly since Hungry Again. Some of the highlights are her pop-country rendition of Together You & I (a song she originally performed as a duet with Porter Wagoner), I Just Might, Shine Like the Sun, and Get Out and Stay Out - the latter three all being from her 9 to 5 musical score. Some of the other songs could be seen as a bit corny, but are so sincerely Dolly that they overcome the corn.
The pressing is fine, nothing extraordinary. The Light Blue Galaxy looks quite nice, and goes well with the album. However, this is probably the least spectacular of the Vinyl Me, Parton Series I've purchased thus far. It probably could have been a VMP exclusive, and been replaced in the series with something more exciting like Grass is Blue or Hungry Again. As far as sound quality, there are a few pops and crackles throughout my pressing, moreso than previous albums I have from this series.
