Crowd at a football match

If you're new to the Betfair Sportsbook or have just downloaded the Betfair app then you will need to know how to place a bet. Here we explain exactly how it's done...

  • How to place a Sportsbook bet on the Mobile app

  • Mobile navigation and Betslip use explained

  • How to use Desktop browser to place a bet

Placing a bet on the Mobile app

Once logged into you account you will see a row of sports with their icons under the page header (see below image). Tap on the sport that you wish to bet on or scroll along for more options if the sport or event you want isn't visible.

You can also use the 'Browse' tab to search for an event, which is located at the bottom of your mobile screen, directly to the right of Home.

Once you have selected the sport that you wish to bet on you will see another row of options that will help you find the event that you're looking for.

Below we are looking for a Premier League match in Football, which you can navigate to using the tabs shown (Competitions then English Premier League).

We are going to place a £10 win single on Tottenham at 2/13.00 in the Match Odds market in the game against Man Utd.

To do this, once you've selected the Man Utd v Tottenham game from the Premier League menu, click on the Match Odds tab and then click on the Tottenham 2/13.00 option (see below image).

Adding more seletions

The above example shows you how to place £10 on Tottenham in the Match Odds market against Man Utd. This is called a win single, but should you wish to add further selections then the process is almost identical.

Let's imagine that we still want to back Tottenham to beat Man Utd, but we also want to include Aston Villa to beat Everton in a £10 win double.

Once you've added Tottenham to your betslip using the process above, instead of adding £10 to the STAKE box and clicking on Place Bet, you would simply click on the Add to Betslip tab.

This will then close your betslip and return you to the screen that you were initially on. From here you just navigate back to the Premier League matches in Football, find the Everton v Aston Villa game, and click on Aston Villa 6/42.50 from the Match Odds market.

Your betslip will reappear showing your two selections (see below image). To place the £10 double just enter 10 in the STAKE box and click on Place Bet to place your win double.

Adding more selecitons

To add more selections to your betslip, instead of clicking on Place Bets after you've added your first selection you just navigate around the Sportsbook like you did for your first selection until you've found your next selection.

You can hide your betslip for easier navigation around the Sportsbook by clicking on the Betslip tab.

In the below image we have added Aston Villa to beat Everton as our second selection. The betslip shows the two selections we've added, and if you wish you can bet on them individually or you can bet on them as a win double in the Multiples section.

Just type 10 in the blank box to the right of Doubles (x1) and then click on Place Bets. Alternatively you can hide your betslip and navigate around the Sportsbook to add more selections.
