Rey Mysterio is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and is considered as the Ultimate Underdog of WWE. The Legendary Luchador has won the United States Championship for the third time, to celebrate his greatness here are the top 10 greatest Rey Mysterio moments in WWE.

10. Beats JBL in 21 Seconds

Rey Mysterio and JBL had a long time feud before, JBL eventually won the Intercontinental Championship before WrestleMania. Rey challenged JBL for an Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 25, marking the first Intercontinental Championship match at WrestleMania after seven years. At WrestleMania, Rey Mysterio squashed JBL in 21 seconds and won the Intercontinental Championship.

9. Wins Tag Team Title with Dom

Winning a championship in WWE could be great, that too winning the championship with your son is priceless. At 2021 Backlash, Rey and Dominik faced Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, where they won the Tag Team titles and became the first ever father-son tag team champions in WWE history.

8. Father vs Son at WrestleMania

Dominik turned on his father Rey Mysterio at Clash at the Castle and joined Judgement Day. Dominik became heel and kept torturing Rey for a match, Rey refused to fight his son and tolerated Dom. Dom took it personally and went on to disrespect his mother and sister, which took Rey to the limit and accepted Dom’s challenge. At WrestleMania 39, Rey Mysterio taught Dom a lesson and won the match, marking the second father-son match at WrestleMania.

7. Royal Rumble 2018 returns

Rey Mysterio ended his WWE contract in 2015 after wrestling for 13 years with the company. After 3 years of wrestling for independent wrestling circuits, Rey made his WWE return at Royal Rumble 2018 as a surprise entrant by entering the rumble at No. 27 and eliminated Adam Cole. Rey’s surprise entrance at Royal Rumble is considered as one of the greatest returns in WWE history.

6. Wins WWE Championship

In 2011, Rey Mysterio was drafted to Raw as part of the WWE Draft. After CM Punk left WWE with the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank, McMahon announced a tournament for the vacant WWE Championship. In which Rey won the tournament and won the WWE Championship for the first time.

5. Hall of Fame United States Champion

WWE announced a United States Invitational Tournament to be the #1 Contender to face Austin Theory for the United States Championship. In which Rey lost to fellow LWO member Santos Escobar in the finals as a result of referee stoppage due to injury. Before the match started Theory attacked Escobar making him unfit to compete, however Rey replaced him and won the United States Championship for the third time, marking the second wrestler to win the United States Championship after being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

4. Wins Custody of Dominik

Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio were the WWE Tag Team Champions and simultaneously having matches with each other. Rey defeated Eddie on multiple occasions, which frustrated Eddie and made Eddie turn on Rey. Eddie took the feud personally and revealed that he is the biological father of Dominik. The feud went extreme, where Eddie and Rey had a ladder match and the winner would have the custody of Dominik. Rey Mysterio won the match by grabbing the briefcase and took custody of Dom.

3. Hall of Fame 2023

In March 2023, WWE announced that Rey Mysterio will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame (Class of 2023) marking the first wrestler to be inducted into the hall of fame with an active wrestling career. Rey was inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2023 by Konnan and wrestled a match the very next day at WrestleMania 39, by becoming the first one to do so.

2. Royal Rumble Win

At Royal Rumble 2006, Rey Mysterio entered the Rumble match at the #2 spot and won the Rumble match by eliminating Randy Orton in the end. He lasted 1 hour two minutes twelve seconds in the ring by breaking the previous records. Rey became the second member to win the match entering at number two spot following Vince McMahon in 1999. Eddie dedicated his win to late Eddie Guerrero and went on to main event WrestleMania.

1. First World Title

After winning the Royal Rumble 2006, Rey Mysterio earned a championship contract, where Rey challenged Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Championship in which Randy Orton was also a part of it. Rey faced Angle and Orton in a Triple Threat Match, where Rey pinned Randy Orton to become the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time. Rey broke the myths of many by capturing the championship of being an Ultimate Underdog.
