Love of Language Brings all Learners Together
Youngsters were invited to discover the world at the Massapequa School District’s 19th annual World Language Festival on March 14. The event was held at Massapequa High School and featured activities celebrating the five languages taught in the district – American Sign Language, French, German, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Berner’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day flower sale will take place on March 14th & 15th to honor the life of Gail Cook. Gail Cook touched the lives of over 2,000 students during her 18 years as an ELA teacher in Massapequa.

Acceptance, empathy, kindness and respect were the values emphasized during the annual Chiefs Challenge Character Education Day at Berner Middle School on March 7. Students heard powerful messages from guest speakers and also participated in meaningful dialogue with their classmates.

Berner Students Get the Scoop on Smoking Dangers
By empowering students with knowledge, the hope is that they will make healthy decisions on their own. Seventh graders at Berner Middle School in the Massapequa School District recently got the facts on cigarettes, vaping and other nicotine products as part of a month-long unit in health class.

Tinkering With Engineering at Berner
Students in the Computer MAGIC class at Berner School recently learned how to use Tinkercad, a 3D modeling program. During a recent videoconference, they connected with educators from the Liberty Science Center to learn about the program’s features.
