Man City submit Silva offer ahead of January - Sources

Man City sources: £40m+ Bernardo Silva offer submitted

Man City have offered Bernardo Silva a new contract to keep him at the club after securing Pep Guardiola to a new deal, sources have told Football Insider.

City have agreed a two-year extension with Guardiola running until 2025 and hope this can help in tying down key players whose futures are up in the air.

One of those is Silva, who is an integral member of the manager’s team and a player who is part of his long-term planning.

The Portugese, 28, is the next star player City want to tie down after recently announcing a new five-year contract for Phil Foden following extensive talks.

During the summer, the Premier League champions also secured Rodri and Riyad Mahrez to extended deals.

Silva’s current His current agreement, worth around £150,000-a-week, is due to expire in the summer of 2025.

He was linked with Barcelona during the summer and there have been subsequent reports they will make a fresh move for him in January.

It is also suggested Silva is eager to play for the Catalan giants at some point in his career.

City have no intention of letting Silva go mid-season and have instead offered a new long-term deal that includes a pay hike.

The whole package is believed to be worth more than £40million in total.

Silva has been a key player for City again this season and starts all the major matches for Guardiola’ side.

He has made 22 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring two goals and supplying five assists.

The left-footed star has played 273 matches for City since joining from Monaco in the summer of 2017 and won four league titles as well as one FA Cup.
